A tip for when you're ready to tie off the thread is to push the needle down the thread, closer to the spool, then cut the length near the cluster and tie off. This will save having to rethread the needle for every cluster. I hope that's clearer than mud! I love these clusters, I need to gather up the stuff to make some. :)

Love these, I will have to try some with sewing the button on. Just a tip from someone that has been sewing for over 50 years. Instead of taking your needle off each time, just push it up the thread past where you are going to cut it off. This way you don't have to rethread the needle each time. It will help if you have a hard time threading the needle.

I haven't made junk journals in nearly 3 years or watched a video on it. Some how I stumbled on this and realized how much I've missed it. Looks like I need to start up again. I miss it. Thanks for the boost.

Love these clusters and your process! I've found some great buttons at the thrift stores when they have a "sale bin" with outdated clothing, sometimes $1 a bag. I buy a bag and remove the buttons and have tons of scraps for almost nothing.

Love the tip of separating your fabrics by color families. Those wooden buttons from Cori are just beautiful. I have a ton of vintage buttons from my grandmother but find it difficult to use some of them. I’m a sentimental old fool. Remember playing with them as a child while she sewed at the machine.

I have sari silk that I got ages ago but the fabric is all twisted so there’s no flat pieces. Can I iron this which I’m sure will take a long time!? If I want affordable fabric where would you suggest I look? Thank you for the great set up you showed.

Mrs Cog did a video a long time ago on ironing Sari but yes on a low iron you can. Second hand clothes torn is a great place to start with fabric for clusters xxx

Is your thread cotton or waxed linen? You called it waxed linen when you showed it then cotton as you are using it.

It is a chiffon fabric, including sari silk x You will have to search, I am not sure where you are and where you can buy it. Mine came from Sherril Olive on Etsy x

These are really beautiful but I think it would be easier to just go ahead and thread-the-needle once with a long piece of cotton and say instead of having to thread it over and over.
