Love your pieced backings. This is the way I make most of my backs. I have been on a fabric diet and haven't purchased any fabric in 2024. I have really been tempted many times but was very strong but it is hard. I have so many UFO's and WIP's that I decided I didn't need any more fabrics.

Love those scrappy borders on your Rail Fence quilt! I make pieced backings alot. I do it much like your large quilt; i.e. big hunks arranged nicely. It's a great way of using up the excess fabric from the front, or clearing out some stash fabric.
I had to same problem! FMO and I too bought the Liberty Box! I love the fabric! I’d like to finish it by July 4th but realistically, that’s not going to happen! I love your pieced backs! I like a pieced back. But when I'm done with top. I want to be done. Last time I pieced a back...ended up just making a second quilt!. Good luck with no spend July. I have already bought 2 Primitive Gatherings fat quarter bundles. One black. One grey.

I usually do pieced backings as my stash is mostly fat quarters. I try to use all the fabric on the front to keep my scraps down(doesn't always work). This is my no spend year except for batting as needed. I failed today because Keepsake Quilting released the preorder of their Christmas box. Bought that and spent my $18 credit with them on 3 mystery packs that were half price. Back to no spending for the remainder of the year.
