Bodkins are really useful for this kind of craft.

Rosie I love your pumpkins, I buy them on eBay really cheap then do all my painting or coverings. I made a big whimsical one in dark grey crush velvet and after using wool for the sections I then added diamond wrap on each section then for the stalk I crumpled up tin foil into a long stalk shape so it was big at the base then really skinny at the end so when I twisted it it came out like a big spring type shape. I then wrapped diamond wrap all around it. I did hot glue it in because it was quite heavy. Then to finish it off I spayed some hairspray around the top and added lightly silver glitter. Then more hairspray to seal it on. It was the first one I had made and I was over the moon with it. My friends & family loved it too! So I will get it out every year for my lounge and make some smaller ones in other colours to match the colour palet. So easy yet look lovely when there done! I love your rustic ones and will do some for my kitchen. Brilliant idea using sleaves! Tfs My dear friend Rosie. I love watching you work and chat. Rosie if you wrap your twine around the pumpkin before you sew them in as many times as you want sections you will have the amount of twine to sew you need and you wont have all the extra twine to muck it up and cit off. Coll pumpkins Ive made a few and I love them!

Love this! If you wrap thr jute around the pencil and wet it and let it dry on the pencil it will hold its shape.
