Thank you Macky. This is a new way, for me, to make unique fabrics. In Alberta, Canada we need good insulative materials for a great part of the year. How nice a vest would be!

Hello Miss Cilliers, I’m so happy I found your channel. I searched for Fabric cards and came across your Fabric weaving when I scrolled down, I love love the colors and the fun fabrics you used to make all your weaving designs. I completely forgot I wanted to make cards for the Holidays lol I dug out all my happy color fabrics along with all my busy design fabric and I’m going to have some fun, I only wish I had a fancier machine with the free motion quilting foot then omg I would not sleep I would create create create. Again thank you for being so creative and I’m looking forward to seeing more videos soon. Have a BLESSED Day LJF

I am very excited about trying this fabric weaving too. So glad I found this channel tonight. I will try it tomorrow but I wanted to let you know that you do not need a formal open-toe free-motion foot (sometimes called a darning foot) for your machine to do this kind of free-motion work. It is great but I used to teach free-motion embroidery and know there is a jumping spring that works with any machine. It is inexpensive and looks kind of weird but is a very good substitute for a formal foot. I got mine from a Bernina dealer. It will give you the freedom to try this with any machine now, fancy or not. Have fun!

I like the idea of the weaving. It might have been good to show the back of the piece after doing you different stitches (easier to see the stitching) , and show it close up. Thank you. I'll look for more.

Much luck with your channel. Tip from my pin weaving work: if you lay lightweight fusible interfacing glue side up for your underlayment, you can press it all into place and it won't shift during stitching...

When I make a lattice crust on pie I use the traditional method of folding back the odd strips halfway, lay down the cross stop, unfold the odd strips, fold up the even strips halfway, lay down a cross strip, unfold, and repeat. Then I rotate the pie 180* and finish the other side. Would the same technique work with the cloth? It seems it would be quicker and easier.

Hello Macky, I just happened upon your channel and I am absolutely hooked! Your work is so stunning and interesting. I would love to add your weave borders to a quilt. Would you maybe consider showing us how you add your weaved border on a quilt? Is there a certain woven strip length that you create or recommend before sewing together? Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and techniques. 😊

Do you do all your blocks with free motion etc. Then make your rows, sometimes? For making your quilts?
@BAM-jc7uy
@BAM-jc7uy 2 года назад
Because you have a Bernina...do you ever use the Bernina Stitch Regulator with feed dogs down, so that the free motion zig zag stitches don't have that "pulled" out stitch look when u come to the points of the zig, etc or do the turns or curves? thanks for the weaving tutorial.

why do people who have a BERNINA. sewing machine ALWAYS say MY BERNINA It drives me nuts seriously. It is a ridiculously expensive machine and it has become a status symbol, like really? so silly , just a show off thing for goodness sake.
