Hello and welcome back to Fabrication 101, thank you for tuning in.
Before we get into this episode of Fabrication 101 I'd like to take a moment an talk about my B.U.T. There are many like it but this one is mine. I've decided to add a 12,000 pound winch to the rear of my truck and I want to hide it behind a custom bumper. In this video I fabricate the winch mount and get a good start on the plate work to create the shape and the look of the bumper.
Thanks for tuning in, I hope you got something out of this video.
We'll see you next time on Fabrication 101.

Thanks for watching, I am toying with the idea of mounting a brake light under the bumper so that it shines through the dimpled strips under the bumper. Should I add another brake light? Let me know what you think.

i love your bumper design, but as a seasoned Towing and Recovery specialist I want my fairlead to be able to utilize 180° degrees for sidepulls if needed. I want the fairlead out flushed or slightly past the bumper for full range of use. Im setting up my personal 1 ton as a personal recovery/ disaster/ prepper truck . My frontend is setup now I'm addressing my rear end. But most manufactured winch bumpers have deep fairlead pockets. Im looking around for ideas. I might need to design my own and recruit a fabrictor.

I agree with you on the fairleed and on my front bumper it does stick out. I want the rear to be hidden and I use it more for loading trailers.

Looks good...one comment when doing a side pull your cable will rub against the bumper

Yep, the rear winch is mostly for loading stuff on the trailer. I also figure if I drive in straight and get stuck it'll be a straight pull backwards.

That’s a impressive truck. But more importantly that’s my new favorite front bumper design. I have a 04 f250 6.0 i would love to build one similar.

Next level. Your an artist bro. What is your preferred gage of steel? Thanks for sharing 🇺🇲

Kind of depends on what I am building. Most of the tubing I use is .125 wall or about 11 gage.
