I agree man. But we are looking at a 240MHz behemoth with 8MB RAM. I know you need a clamp to hold your nose (I did 8 bit myself), but this sadly is the future.
I‘m always amazed what can be done with the esp32, currently working at a crazy idea my company wants todo probably creating one of the most complex pices of code running on it. Sadly scheduling isn’t that nice in freertos. Doing a can logger with wifi and ble and a imu + adc and some extra hmi and recording all of it to a attached emmc memory in 5ms intervals. Tensorflow is a nightmare to build and that for basically a matrix calculation lib.. I actually do wonder a bit why the prc doesn’t show more of that stuff instead of useless picture manipulation. Is streaming the video possible on it? I always felt like that’s very costly especially if you want low latency.. Hmm is the S3 any better with floats did see even doing loops with simple matrix math using floats was too much for it.
Hi, yes, the S3 has a SIMD like instruction set addition. I will be honest, my biggest job is some FFT here for like 2048 quines, 10 times a second. So I am not sure about the performance...but if you want me to I can run a benchmark for you my friend.
