i think it would be very easy to dismiss richard gere's allegiance to buddhism, but when you have a level of "fame" that he has, and has had, it would be very easy to go down the "elvis" route of drugs, etc.... richard is an intelligent man, and realised that he needed,needs, a genuine soul connection. he has he's family and that is fantastic, but he is a superstar, very rich, and very famous, and yet he hangs on too he's buddhist believe's which i would suspect keep him normal.
