This is part 2 of the episode in which I am following Esso around on his daily duties. He rides his motorcycle around the Etosha Heights Private Reserve every day, looking after the fencing, checking up on the waterholes and keeping on eye on the animals that roam around. I didn't expect to come face to face with three male lions though. They are so well camouflaged that when they were lying down, I could barely see them!

Way more dangerous than you realize. You can tell by the concern seen on the other motorcyclist's face when they were around the lions. Read any of the writings about Africa from Robert Ruark, or especially Peter Capstick and you will really understand how risky that was. I'm not sure Noraly was aware of that. I'm so glad it turned out well!!!!

Noraly's done some absolutely amazing episodes in her time, but this has to be up there with the best she's ever done. This is high level documentary footage, but it's from such a unique perspective, a lot more raw and real than your average Nat Geo doc. It is almost unheard of for somebody to be allowed to ride a bike like this through a live game reserve and film the footage. What it shows you is so close to what our early ancestors must've saw and experienced as they walked through the wildnerness amongst these great beasts of our age. No game drive goes through real bushveld like the stuff she rode through in this episode! Just amazing! 😊🔥 EDIT: Also huge thanks to these two wonderful gentlemen for affording Noraly, and by extension all of us this experience. What absolute champs the both of them are. I hope they good things come there way in life..

Fantastic episode! So exciting to see elephants and lions so close up! I viewed some parts of this video frame by frame! The mix of Afrikaans, Dutch, and English is actually quite easy to follow. Words like leeuspoor/leeuwspoor is immediately understood (well, at least for me who has Swedish as first language, English as second language, and German as third language).

The scene of the elephants and the setting sun at 20:00 onwards is simply amazing. The sunsets, sights, sounds and smell of the African bush/deserts stays with one forever. Wife and I will be undertaking our 3rd road trip (SUV) to Namibia next month thanks to you for igniting the Namibian flame in us again.

Wouldn't say humbling. Would say sad. It's shame these animals are kept in enclosures that are vastly smaller than their normal territories because of humans. And why is it good she's riding there on a motorcycle? If the lions charged at her they would be shot. What humans have done to Africa is shocking.

Being close to lions in an open top Landrover if pretty scary already, never mind on a motorbike. Villagers crossing nature reserves on bicycle have been attacked in the past. Glad you had some back-up following you. The most dangerous lions are usually lionesses, hiding right behind you, while you gaze at the males of the pride! ;)

Right, if you can see them. I can't count the number of times I've been out in the bush and seen nothing. That being said I live in a suburb of Vancouver where you can get black bear, deer, coyotes, raccoons, cougar and very occasionally elk walking through your front yard.

Intense! Glad you had the "backup" driver in the 4WD along with you and Esso just in case. Experience on the trail pays off when you want to get closer to capture those "Kodak Moments". To be, or not to be? - that is the question: Engine on, or engine off? - 'tis a noble thought. It certainly must give pause. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!

It's amazing the amount of energy and money that is being put into the conservation of wildlife in Africa. And they willingly show you around and tell you about their hard work. In the meantime you get to see some amazing wildlife from very naerby. Beautiful to be shown around, thanks Noraly! You must feel really privileged as well! When we were in Africa I was amazed how well the lions color keeps them camouflaged from view even when you are really close . If we didn’t have a guide we would have missed seeing at least half the animals.

So graceful. We had lions pad through our campsite one night in the CKGR in Botswana. Only the canvas between us & the lions. They left about 6am. We found many footprints. OMG

Totally amazing Noraly! As others have said this is quite humbling to see these majestic animals up close and personal. I think Mother Earth is using you to teach all of us watching how amazing she is. A message so needed in todays world.

Me too, every time i hear Afrikaans it reminds me of the shared history of SA and NL. I think it's quite special that after al those many years we can still understand each other with a bit of effort.
