Lockey's comments about kids playing and learning is so true. Way too much pride at the range as we get older. Great stuff guys.

The bit about pre-twisting the club for low shots played in the back of your stance is gold. I put that into play today, and finally was able to hit that shot! Thanks so much!

A brilliant video. Why anyone would dislike this is beyond me!

hi fellas I would just like to say that I have been playing golf at a high level for many years and have only just discovered you guys and you are a breath of fresh air in my opinion, Golf is and should be fun, learn from and use your mistakes, back to 'child mode' as coach said, so much better and more effective than all the 1 dimensional teaching, great videos, thanks!

Thank you very much Mark and Coach! I've always understood about a couple of shot manipulations, but you two just put a few new manipulations in my toolbox. Great video from a pair of highly knowledgable coaches, half-ass decent golfers, and seriously humorous blokes!

Thanks Mark/Matt. Recently started watching you over here in the US and love the videos. As a high handicap, I usually try to just be consistent and strike the ball pure with the goal of hitting it straight. This makes perfect sense with respect to changing things up and will give it a try. Thanks brah!

great advice which i have taken on board from your previous videos on the subject.. I even go and find places on the course when it is quiet where i can practice a shot with a tree in the way... worrying about the ball bouncing back into your head concentrates the mind!!

Great ideas there chaps! I really struggle with face to path, so can't wait to go practice these thoughts.

Great video lads. I'm one those golfers who when they go to the range they are expecting to hit each shot straight and flush and don't really think about shot variation. Need to concentrate more on this in future.

Loved this video. Gave me permission to just hit junk borrowing a term from tennis. Shout out for Murray there Mark ! I used to play a lot of tennis and I was always twisting and changing grips my swing plane I know you love that term Mark ☺ . You could effect spin and ball flights. My mistake in golf is trying to be very precise and consistent where really I should enjoy experimenting. This helping me finally shape the ball and expand my abilities love it and love this informal style.

Great use of questioning to get coach to show his understanding of face to path control. Mark do you want to come teach high school in Texas? I will get you some boots!!!!

Great video! Spot on. People will hit balls on the range before a round and see their ball high fade. Then say things like. 'Oh it'll be a fade today!' Then come back the next or week etc and hit a low draw. Then say 'Oh I'll be drawing the ball today then!' Then just accept that and play the rounds and struggle not knowing why??

Enjoyed this vid. I have done this along time putting a clockwise or anti-clockwise twist in the club from a neutral grip. I do have a difficult time day to day picking a aimpoint for these shots. The aim allowance can be too little or too much. Assuming it is down to practice? I never put a closing twist in with the driver but an opening twist can be effective for me as in a high fade off the tee. The handle forward or back(shaft lean) is something not as intuitive to me. Does Lockey do this at address? Assuming this may take some shaft twist too?

Re-watched this a couple of times. I'd be interested in thoughts for high draw and low fade as those are hard for me to get my head around.

your comment on the squash players was interesting. as a kid I learned to play tennis and at that time using the wrist was an absolute nono. so my forehand shots had not a lot of spin and were dead straight. in a way this is also the way I imagine golf. do you have any experience / data on that type of golf students that could be interesting to share as well?

There it is. Next time I top/fat/shank shots on the range I can say I'm practicing my bad shots. Seems that I give them a lot of practice lately...

When I see a pro he gives me a swing thought which gives me a draw but over time that swing thought turns into a massive uncontrollable draw! Playing around with shot shapes gives me an element of control to fix these problems myself...

I was born in the wrong country. We didn't play driving range games, we chucked sticks at each other and set off fireworks

always thought mark used his wrist alot...but seriously i dont know why most people go the range..seems like they want to see how fast they can hit a bucket of balls

For me it's just to stretch my body to accommodate a golf swing. I do agree with you. People tend to hit balls mindlessly on the range. Not as a rule but this is what I see.
