Had this on VHS. Good times. I rode as a youngster but never progressed like I wanted to. It was still fun though, I don't regret any of the time I spent on a bike or a skateboard. I couldn't hop that high and I think I had too much fear. I was afraid of breaking bones and getting really hurt. Sacrifice. I could ride a skateboard really well but never even ollied. 😂
9yrs ago i made this comment, with a major typo i'll add. Today i still find more inspiring and unique riding in these older videos, hell i wasn't even riding in 96! And thanks to these vids, i am now capable of funky tricks too.
Old and mid school, the new age of bmx is to fkn stuntman, And the clothing was cool back in the day, now they are in their girlfriend's fkn jeans ! I still ride and I'm still in baggie trousers 44 years old feeling 18 in the head.
What's also interesting about the older videos of this era, MTB, trials, bmx, whatever, is that there wasn't really any cinematic BS around, just a share of various sports throw in, and some fun or comedy in them. Now it's very extremely cinematic, with no other sports, and very little if any fun or comedy thrown in. Shows you how the sterilised society attitudes has leaked into our sports which used to be more about fun than anything else. Also, when you watch some of the new jams that get hosted, they are a shadow of their former selves, with everything feeling very forced... Where are the hosts that enjoyed throwing a bit of comedy or banter of previous times?
