To me the big 60 to 90 minute movies usually just have alot of filler... Except for the few great big horror movies out there I prefer short horror movies like this one...

I actually disagree! She had a phobia, a true one, and I believe the box could have cured her of that. I don't believe it to be cheating, because she WAS working on herself - or trying to - that's why she got the chance to use it at all. Problem with mystical objects is they don't give a toss WHY you broke 'The Rules,' you just did. Her fate was sealed when she did, and she brought it literally on herself with every move after the initial rule break.

The difference is that, Billy Idol sang the song more as an ode - via "dope poetry", regarding his own heroin addiction. And Idol's now ex-wife, who sang in the song's background "les yeux sans visage" ("eyes without a face"): she was also a dancer, who would perform with the great, late STeve STrange and his leading "New Romanic" group, *VISAGE.* Befitting.

I can see that too. Sort of like the wardrobe from Harry Potter but creepier because the people who get it don't know what it is. That box belongs in Ed and Lorraine Warren's safe room.

I'd say if she had won, she would have overcome her fear. If she had not forced the box, she would have stayed fearful, like she was, but that's it.

If she had won she would have overcome her fear of darkness. And opened the box to see nothing. Just a plain ol box. Or even better, it'd just be a mirror that's welded to inside of the box. As she looks at herself in the box, she'd realise the only cure to her own fears, is through herself. It's similar to that of Kung Fu Panda's first movie moral: *"There is no secret ingredient."*

Hey Mr. E-Your comments make total sense. Why the hell would she get out of the car? Here’s why: Neil and I had many conversations about story and back story, which (un)fortunately did not make it into the short, because let’s face it, all we really want to see is everything go wrong. As you know, Alyssa lives with a debilitating fear of the dark that has made her world really small and limited to an existence in the light. Her world is constructed around avoiding her fear, which is synonymous with the entity. That means no dinners out, date nights at the movies, sleep overs-you get the point. Kind of like living Rona2020. 😟 Her world is built around coping with her fear. Imagine what that would be like? We all have fear, some big/small. They can be crippling or just an inconvenience. Me: I am afraid of snakes, which I only encounter on a hike or at Petco. So, I avoid THAT aisle and hikes in temps above 70 degrees. Fear evaded. But Alyssa’s fear of the dark, which REALLY is a fear of the ENTITY that has been haunting her for years, is not as easily avoided. Every time she walks into a dark space, turns off a light, or dusk turns to night, she sees that entity. Which would be everyday, if not for her carefully constructed life. So when we meet Alyssa, she is at her breaking point and ready to FACE HER FEAR. Which spurs her to take a cat sitting job at 10pm, propels her out of the car, into the house, searching for help from a self-help book, and ultimately, trying her luck at silly game. Her fear wins. But her desperation continues to push her forward. It’s just a silly box, right? F%€# this box. F%€# this fear. F%€# all of it. She wants out of this nightmare by whatever means possible. The answer is in a stupid box? Fine. What have I got to lose? F%€# the rules of this stupid F%€#ing game. Her desperation propels her forward. So she forces her way in, but once inside, what does she find, Mr. E? A darkness greater than any darkness that she’s confronted in her tiny world. And it sucks in, first the sun, then her. It’s interesting as hell. Think about it. Neil’s a genius. There’s so much to learn from here. 😉 Thank you for watching and your comments. Really appreciate you opening up the conversations.
