The Articles you are referring to don't prescribe the burning and lootings of properties.

I wish we have at least , a few bold activists like Mr. Alphonso, in Sierra Leone. That are bold enough to speak the truth about issues affecting the majority of Sierra Leoneans.

In Sierra Leone, while protests are a legitimate way to express grievances, there are important reasons to consider alternative approaches. Here’s why protests may not always be the best course of action in our context: 1. **Political Instability**: Our nation has a history of political tensions, and protests can sometimes heighten these tensions, risking destabilization. This can undermine the progress we've made towards peace and stability. 2. **Potential for Violence**: Protests can sometimes turn violent, leading to loss of life and property destruction. In a country like ours, where resources are limited, the damage from such events can set us back significantly. 3. **Government Crackdowns**: In Sierra Leone, the government may respond to protests with force. This can result in serious consequences, including human rights violations and unnecessary suffering. 4. **Economic Disruption**: Protests can disrupt economic activities, particularly in cities. For a developing economy like ours, such disruptions can have long-lasting impacts on livelihoods and the overall economy. 5. **Ethnic and Social Tensions**: Our country is home to various ethnic groups and communities. Protests can sometimes deepen these divisions, leading to inter-ethnic tensions that could harm national unity. 6. **Weak Legal Frameworks**: Sierra Leone's legal systems for managing protests are still evolving. Without strong legal oversight, protests can easily spiral out of control, causing harm to both participants and bystanders. 7. **Lack of Accountability**: When protests lead to negative outcomes, accountability can be difficult to ensure. This can create a cycle where those responsible for violence or destruction face no consequences. 8. **Negative Perception**: Protests can sometimes be perceived as a sign of instability, affecting Sierra Leone’s international image. This can have consequences for foreign investment and our diplomatic relationships. In light of these challenges, it’s often more effective to pursue alternative methods of dialogue and negotiation to address issues. By working together peacefully and constructively, we can continue to build a stronger, more stable Sierra Leone.

That minister is out of touch. He has no good intention for our beloved Country Sierra Leone. The other participant should be the minister. He is smart.

It seems this Mr Gbani man in question has some form of grievances in his heart, so much that , he has forgotten about past protests in Sierra Leone , wherein houses were burnt down, police stations got burnt down ,police officers got killed , shops got looted and vandalised.

Mr. Gbanie needs to realize that those countries in question have better incomes and resources to rebuild their countries after the fact. SL should not be compared to other countries. Wise up and let this insensitive president get off his high horse and speak to the citizens. Enough of all the arrogance my friends. Stop comparing SL to other countries and also pointing fingers at the political parties. The people needs help, i reiterate again. It is very disheartening to see the pain and sufferings that I see on their faces. Thie onus on the president and until then the bucks stops with him. I have never seen such arrogance, ignorance and wickedness that he has towards the country and the people. I don't condone violence and I hope and pray that folks do what's in their best interests come August 19th and 20th. I hope that they don't listen to people from the diaspora that are misleading them back home. May God help them all and remember that SL is the only country that we have. We need to develop her resist the temptations of violence, IJMN. Thanks!!!

How I wish some of us are at that panel to respond to such CSO who want to destroy the good image and peace of Sierra Leone, what a gut a whole CSO supporting violent .
@jonconteh
@jonconteh Месяц назад
No sir. The CSO is advocating for freedom of association and expression. The government and the minister are clearly fearful of loosing control and power. The President and government must invest in the things that matter, eg the police and education. But they are not. They reserve all resources to their own safety and sustenance.....Any gathering of people must be guarded by the police but they are not paid adequately, not funded or not trained then they will not be able to deliver their roles.....So, usually they will kill to scare people away or ban gatherings. And that is evil.

Mr Alphonso Sierra Leone don't need protest at this particular point in time. We need peace in our country. You as an activist shouldn't be encouraging the citizens to protest when you very well know that we are not civilize enough to protest in a peaceful manner.

Our president is perfectly doing well in terms of good governance. President Bio inherited austerity but yet still he has managed the economy of our country to the extent that more developmental activities are going on throughout the country. So we as citizens should embrace peace and move on.

Mr. Gbanie, you are a bad politician. Encouraging people to protest as a politician means that you enjoy destroying your own country. Foday Sankoh's protest yielded no dividend apart from destruction, killing people, etc.
