FACES OF KENSINGTON LABREA 15YRS OLD (MUST SEE) 

I wish I still lived in Philly for I would take Labria in. God Bless you beautiful girl. I owned a lovely brownstone downtown, Washington Square. I fell on hard times & had to majorly downsize & got an apartment in Kensington on Diamond & Hancock. I had to walk down to the Ave regularly to take the el to work. On my way home from work one night( I bartended so it was late ) when I got of the el & was walking home ( I always carried mase for not safe for a woman to walk alone in Kensington, especially late at night) I saw a young man laying on a dirty dilapidated mattress with no shirt on, shivering for it was close to wintertime & very cold outside (plus it was starting to rain). I stopped and asked his name & what was he doing out in the cold. He was dirty & looked like he had been in a fight. He also was a very attractive young man. He said his name was Nicky & that he is homeless & had been living on the streets for the past 6 years. My heart dropped & I just couldn't just walk by him without offering some help. I know I was taking a huge risk, for he also stated he was hooked on cocaine & heroin, but I couldn't bare to just leave him in the state he was in. So I offered him to come home with me to take a shower, get some clean clothing (I had some of my ex's clothes), eat a hot meal, & get a good night's sleep on my comfy couch. Nicky was extremely excited & grateful for he also had stated that people were after him...another risk I was taking allowing him into my home. I told him that he had to promise me he would not steal anything & he promised, though I was extremely nervous due to him being an addict. So I brought Nicky into my home, cooked him a nice hot meal, he took a shower, & I gave him clean pjs to put on & a clean change of clothes for the next day. I created a comfortable set up on my couch, & he fell asleep minutes after laying down. The next day when I woke up (it was 1pm in the afternoon for I did not get to sleep till after 5am), Nicky was fast asleep & looked so peaceful so I let him sleep. Around 4pm when I had to leave shortly for work I woke him up & told him I had to leave for work & that he had to leave but when I was finished working he could come back & sleep over again. Nicky begged to stay, but I was afraid to leave him there alone & I told him to meet me where I found him sometime after 2am. He walked me to the el & I gave him a big hug & $20, even though I knew the money was most likely going towards drugs. This cycle repeated for a month & on my days off, I spent time getting to know this beautiful, intelligent young man. I bought him clothing, took him out to eat, & for the first time in many years, Nicky recieved kindness, true friendship, & love, for he had a father who beat him & his mother passed away when he was only 5 year old. My landlord eventually caught on to what he called my "forbidden houseguest", & threatened to evict me if he or someone reported to see Ncky at my place again. He was devastated & begged for me to still let him stay, but I could not risk it plus I just could not afford to keep supporting him. So sad. There is a park across the street from where I lived & Nicky was always there at night when I got home from work. He would sleep on the benches, yell to me to please let him in, but I just couldn't. He was there when I would leave for work & he still would walk me to & from the el before & after. I offered many times to get him help, even going as far as getting him into rehab (he left after a few hours), getting him enrolled into a methadone program (he quit after one week), getting him public assistance (he ended up selling his food stamps)...but nothing helped for I guess he did not want or was not ready to quit the street life. Eventually, after a good 3 months of seeing Nicky regularly, he disappeared. Last time I saw him, his beautiful face & body was mangled from a gang of men beating him up & he was in a very bad state physically & mentally (Nicky also was a paranoid schizophrenic). He begged me again to stay over that night( he did every time I saw him) it severely pained me, but I just couldn't, then he just disappeared. I eventually saved up, & ended up moving to Southern California for a fresh start & change of scenery (I was also going through a very rough break up with my ex whom I was with for 8 yrs prior the duration of my Nicky experience). 2 months after moving, I get a call from my old landlord in Kensington that he found Nicky...DEAD on the stairs leading to my old apartment. Inside Nicky's pocket, was a letter for me stating that he just got out of jail, is clean, & wanted to thank me for being the nurturing Mother he never had, & if I could talk to my landlord about letting him move in for he was planning to get a job to contribute. Burto, my old landlord, found him with a needle still stuck in his arm. Nicky was only 22 years old. I so very wish I could remember his last name for I wanted to try & contact a relative . Nicky died alone, thrown away like trash in a dumpster. This was in 2014 (when I got the call). I still think about Nicky to this day & sometimes I talk to him hoping he can hear me. It makes my heart smile to at least know he knew he was important & loved by someone...I was all Nicky had that would not hurt him. I miss & love you sweet Nick. I am so sorry I was not there that day & could not save you, but you know I had given & did everything I could to try😢🤗

I was am addict for years. Never thought I'd go "that far". But, I did. I wasn't raised with good coping skills. Didn't know how to deal with life, without a crutch. Years later, I knew I had to get out, and I did. God plucked me from the depths of hell. I was a victim of "gang stalking" too, which made it even harder tho recover. Still dealing with bullying. But, I can now hold my own. Sober and happy. I draw my strength from God. Or, I wouldn't make it at all. I had lost my house, my husband, my dog and my health. Happy to report that I am still married going on 24 years. I truly appreciate your videos because they remind me of what I went thru. I pray and love every one of God's children. I'd love to do more. I think it's time that I help others. Regardless of my past hurt and pain.

She speaks better than most adults... I hate this.

To blame the parents for everything is not fair. My little brother is an addict. My parents did everything. When he ran away we'd spend our days and nights looking for him. As soon as he was found and brought home. He'd run away again. He was in counseling, on medication, in school, then something changed. He was on K2 as well and he was always high. He had been using drugs since he was 13yrs old. My parents did EVERYTHING for him. He started stealing and landed himself in juvenile jail for most of his teenage life. When he came home he was worse than when he left. Every body wants to blame the parents but when a child has in their mind that they want to run the streets.....there is not much you can do to change that especially when drugs are involved. My parents had him in classes about the affects of drugs, he'd been in rehab a couple of times. Had him riding around with police officers to speak with him. Cops came to the house...and placed him in programs that could help him. He graduated HS in one of those programs. At 17, he decided he didnt want to be in my parents home and wanted be in South Florida with his older brother, so my parents bought him a ticket and he was gone. Once he got to his brother's house.....he ran away again. He became homeless and ended up in prison. Im not disregarding anyone's story because i know many children who really have no one to lean on, no one to care. But there are some who do have that and make the decision to be in the streets.

It truly is like a punch in the gut to see children in situations like this. I take everyone at face value and always try to help out with a meal or whatever else someone might need when I am in the area, the only thing I dont hand out is cash.

Oh Frank this just breaks my heart. Do you still see these children on the street? I never understood addiction but I think I do as best as I can without being addicted after listening to so many people. Keep up the great work that you do. I wish I knew what to do to help

As a Mother of 5 children, I can not fathom any of them being in this situation. I would literally pull up asphalt getting to my kids and her Mom doesn't even bother come looking for her? This young woman needs a good female mentor... So heartbreaking

they prefer to sleep on the street instead of w/their family at home. that tells u how eggregious the abuse is at home. their parents need to be brought to justice.

This brought tears to my eyes! As a father of 3, this breaks my heart NO child should not be loved, not have a home, or have to experience what they are experiencing on the streets! This enraged me as well, the system fails people daily! Rich politicians sitting in their comfort of their homes while a child like this is looking for food or a place to keep warm! She’s beautiful I wish I could rescue her, I’m from north Philly living in Vegas. Life was rough for me too, with mom and stepdad on drugs . I had to fiend for myself from age 15. Hang in there baby grl , you can make it out .

This is exactly why no one should be judging anyone on the street!! This poor girl will eventually grow into a woman who people tend to treat like crap thinking she’s just another “junkie” on the street when she’s not, she’s lost because she has no parents, which then leads to homeless adults. People don’t get it and it’s so sad. I’m recovering, just hit 3 years September 22nd, thanks for being such an inspiration!! I always wanted to go and help with things like this and give back! I thankfully got out of that place years ago but some aren’t so lucky.

I just fell upon your channel. I live in the area and have a 20 yr old niece who is suffering with this addiction. I drive all around looking for her and watch youtube videos to see if I can see her in the background. That's when I found your amazing channel. I am totally blown away. So much respect. Congrats on your sobriety! No way to tell you enough how amazing it is that you have recovered and can be around others like this and be able to have that amazing will to not only stay sober, but to help others. God bless. How can any parent not want anything to do with their child? You brought them into this world and it is your responsibility to provide for and protect them.

I love these videos because my brother is an addict and these videos touch my heart I still miss him some much he was my best friend I miss him I’m sorry he’s gone gone so far he’s losing himself I love him and I feel guilty he’s gone he could’ve been better he was so good at everything school sports and now it’s all gone I miss him and want him to come back he started at 15 but no one knew he doesn’t deserve any miss treatment from no one or anyone I miss him

This interview completely shattered my heart. She has so much promise and should not have to be exposed to these elements. I pray that she is housed and protected from this cold world before anything takes a turn for the worse. This is such a shame that this is what people especially CHILDREN in this country have to endure. It’s so painful.

Love what your doing. But as this video hits me right in my soul. I was a teen runaway..it was me all me. My parents were not to blame at all. I was a brat and I hope you see that it's not always where the parents have failed their children .I pray those kids come around and get their lives together. I know this..at 51 years old I am so different than the 15 yr old runaway I was. I've battled addiction my whole life. I had undiagnosed mental health issues ,bipolar...My parents were good,this is just my story😁😸

Kensington is a literal shit show. I just drove through it and saw mt workers trying to revive a overdose and other walking. Around like zombies. It’s sad to know children are living in that mess.

2 1/2 years clean of down well almost started on 28 mg of suboxne and down to 2mg will be stopping dec 15th 2019 and hope to be clean for the first time in 6 years for Christmas. I could not have done it with out my wife and In-laws I could not imagine being alone with out support. God bless you and the work your doing.

Me too, Frank. I watch to stop myself from losing the manufactured home my old man bought for us, after his dad died. I have to pay rent on my lot, forever. If I don't, I will get it taken from me. If I go out again, I lose it all. I keep seeing CHILDREN on these blues, it makes me sick. I was introduced to free base at 15, older boyfriend, 22. I didn't understand that I was now addicted to everything I tried. Opiates were my downfall, wish I had known. You are doing great work, just talking!! This country does not really get how big this problem is. I am 60 now, addicted since 1995, still alive, on Suboxone. Jeannie

I see this video was made 2 years ago. Has there been a follow up as to has happened to Labrea since then? If not, a follow up SHOULD have happened, because it's NECESSARY. In addition, what about the authorities such as child welfare agency? Were they contacted? If not, WHY NOT? This is so damn tragic, I am absolutely speachless

You are a top bloke Frank mate that's from the NE of England UK. Things are getting worse here year by year and what your country is going thru is around tge corner from us over here. Iv been down the addiction road myself and have 1 year clean of opioids and benzos. The world needs more strong men like yourself who actually give a fuck about other people as I do myself

The true hero is the guy in Morals over money video having sympathy and speaking up for the children involved in this mess. unfortunately Melissa is stealing the show here. I know she did a wonderful thing but all praises goes to the guy that actually making this video and helping all people and children that is affected.

U can’t always blame the parents. We don’t know what really is going on behind closed doors. Young kids want to do whatever they want and defy their parents a lot. I don’t want to judge anyone because that’s for god to do, not me! But I hope she and her boyfriend find the help they need to get themselves out of this situation before it’s to late. I don’t think they know the seriousness of the streets even though they have been out there for 7 months. No place like a home.

I like the name of your channel, it would be a better world following morals over money. I cut hair too for a living and I know taking time with some people is more then just cutting hair, we are also connecting to people and we can make a small difference in there day just by showing care and listening to them as you are doing in your video’s as well.

This is why child labor laws is a problem. The age to legally work 40 hours a week needs to be lowered so these kids can legitimately support themselves. I left home at a young age and couldn’t get a job because of my age which is not a good thing.
