Western Kentucky (9/20/14) - SurfKY.com was on location this weekend at Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky. Gary and Annjeana Gates had the opportunity to speak with a few individuals that called Land Between the Lakes their home until the mid-1960’s. It was during that decade that over 900 families were displaced and turned off their land to make way for many of the changes we see today with the lakes, dam, and wildlife refuge.
This opportunity was a first for SurfKY News Group, Inc. in that this story is presented in a mini-documentary style film.
“This will be the first of many,” says video director Gary Gates of SurfKY News. “This short film will hopefully give birth to a wide new spectrum in what SurfKY can bring to our readers and now viewers. I am pleased to share the creativity of this first film with my wife and photographer, Annjeana Gates.”
SurfKY want to thank the individuals that allowed our cameras to document a critical moment in Kentucky’s history.
If you have a story that needs to be told, feel free to contact SurfKY.com today.
