Ryan, I’m a year older than your Dad. His pulse is my pulse. We’ve seen this way, way too many times. My wife became a Mets fan when Jake and Thor and Wheeler were young. I tried to talk her out of it. She didn’t know the torment she would be going through. But she didn’t listen. But now she’s realizing the misery I’ve been through for 51 years. Game 7 in 1973 kicked it all off for me. I cried for a couple hours after that game. They had the lead in the 6th inning. How could that little boy have known what he was in for? I have 1986 and 50 other years of a deep and unrelenting pain. This was a really fun season. But they all end the same. But they are my first love and I’m powerless against it.

🎶🎤 _Regressiooooon!!!_ 🎵 This has been a very successful season. Y’all are forgetting that the Mets were never supposed to be here in the first place (puns!). They have among the lowest World Series odds of any potential playoff team, similar to the Tigers and Royals. So think about how confident you are in the Royals. The Mets’ pitching staff (particularly the rotation) performed WAAAAY over their heads for most of the season, and now they’re predictably coming back to earth. The offense has come and gone, but for the past few months, when the pitching struggled, the bats came through, and vice versa, but that’s just luck; now they’re both struggling. This has been a streaky team all year. People assign all kinds of narratives about choking and pressure to what’s going on, but they’ve been like this all year.

Please Do not resign Pete Alonso ( Dave Kingman)... He is the least clutch player the Mets ever had... He's stats every year are going south... He's 29 and in his 30s he's gonna be even worse... In spring training the Mets offered him 158 million for seven years and he turned it down...he's not worth that... He's lucky anyone gives him that in free agency... The guys a bum.. There is no solutions for this Mets team..1-One of the worse bullpen in Mayor League..2- Not a "clutch" hitting team at all. 3-Dubious starting pitchers. They don't have a real ace to take care important games. 4-The hitters strikeouts a lot. Horrible with men on base. A "brutal" closer that failed in 7 or 8 games already..5-Can't understand that their best player is hurt and still trying to play him anyway. 5-The manager don't stablish a lineup against righties or lefties pitchers. All Mayor Leagues teams get support from their farm when they have injuries or underperformed players..McNeal (a lefty bat was hurt) JD Martínez, Badder, etc.Why don't bring Gilbert an outfielder that lefty bat CF needed??Why don't get a good reliever at the trading deadline???Is a total disaster. Right now they are in the position needing to win 2 games of 3 ..1 against Brewers today (0-5!! ) And another game in Atlanta, after a "pathetic" 0-3 record in the final round-trip of the season..Any result don't change the opinion that this team goes nowhere in the future, they needs several changes and additions..The core needs to go..Alonso, Nimmo, Lindor, McNeal, Marte, Diaz and some "craps" relievers like the 2 Jones, Ottavino, Garret, Brazooban, etc..Is a lot of work for the "General Manager" but like I said before is the only way to assemble a better team to compete against high level teams.. .

Once again the fanbase is setting themselves up for long term disappointment. The simple fact is that this team has overachieved. No on expected the starting pitching to be this solid or Jose Iglesias and Mark Vientos to have the kind of seasons they had. Even Francis Lindor, a career .250 hitter, was playing out of his mind. The problem will be Mets fans thinking they are only a player or two away from being a championship contender, the team enthusiastically signing some 30 something has-been to an exorbitant deal and all the outliers return to the norm as players are want to do. I don't want to be a Debbie downer but we've seen this movie before. It's called irrational optimism and it usually results in scenes of Met fans weeping in their seats. Here's hoping David Stearns does not get sucked into it as so many have before.

'73' Mets with a wounded Rusty Staub and an old Willie Mays took that series all the way to game 7. You're right about the 24 Mets being better hitters. But this is what I see the difference is. Brewers play old time baseball. They can turn little hits into runs by their running game. Too many times we see Nimmo, Pete and others taking BIG cuts when they shouldn't be. Pitching, fielding, speed and then power wins ball games. It's worked for a hundred tears. Praying today Mets can come back to life and string some hits together.

At this point this slump the inexperience has this team scarred to death Manea looked afraid. Pete Alonso honestly in the middle of the lineup leaves too much to be desired. I think he’ll be in California. He’ll do well and have a resurgence but toss needs to be the Juan Soto sweepstakes for the New York Mets offseason. You need to solidify the middle of the lineup. Folks, the METS were 4 Games behind ATL and 6 Games behind ARI on August 28th...The METS are 18 - 8 since then...Please chill out...METS have been really strong down the stretch...METS are going to make NL Wild Card and then go far in Playoffs, perhaps even all the way...METS have comeback since May 29th MANY times after disappointing losses during this run from -11 Games BELOW .500...METS are fine and will be fine...!! We really need to start looking at who comes through in clutch situations. Also, need to analyze Alonso's HR's: did they come when they were needed or were they just icing on the cake? If he is considered the leader\Captain of the team, he has failed! He is going to leave NY'ers with a VERY BAD taste in our mouths and good riddance!

I've been a Met fan 35 years and on average I watch 130+ games every season. This season I've watched less than 80 games. I did not believe in this team coming into the season thinking .500 at best. They'll miss the playoffs. Not holding my bad breath.

Mets need a Wally Backman type Manager to get in the Met players grill....but those types of managers won't get hired because: 1. The organization don't want to get called out for some of their offseason acquisitions. 2. MLB don't want to get called out when they drop the ball (umpires failing to call strikes or balls as an example).

An all time collapse? What are you talking about, this is normal for the NY Mets, fans have seen it many times before. 2022 is another classic example. All they needed to do was win one game against the cubs or one game against the braves.... they could not muster that. This is just status quo. I am a huge NY Mets fan, have been for 40+ years, and I am really kind of numb to the end of season choke by now.

Here's my analysis: Daylight. Daylight is better than flood lights at night. Daylight registers as operable data a fraction of a second faster than artificial light. Net result more positive contact at the plate and earlier pick up of the ball off the bat when playing the field. My prediction follows daylight, this game at three o'clock is a win. And here's where I freak you out, we win both double header Monday, if they are day games.

Folks, the evidence is all right in front of us. 2 more days and we will have multiple years of data to draw from. Who steps up when the season is on the line, in crunch time? As a whole, the Mets have not done well against either team. We were facing a gauntlet with these last few games. Our bullpen pen is hit or miss along with our bats. Thinking that the Mets could have swept the brewers was is delusional thinking. It feels like the only way we could get in will be because the d’backs failed. Do the Mets have the grit and dog in them to fight tooth and nail to win? Truthfully I still have some faith in them as I would love to see them get passed first round lol. But in reality, the season will end as a success in some ways. Something to build off of
