Exactly, he'd deport all Anglos if he could. He hates us. I don't think he's actually spoken to Anglo Montrealers either. The ones I know don't feel the way he claims they do. French language is not their priority.
We must protect the English language in Ontario. I see most classes in elementary and high schools are french immersion and they should be banned. I left in 88 and still have a shopping centre that I manage on the south shore and I have only gone back once. I manage by phone and internet. I am sent bills, insurance documents and leases in french which I turn down and have to sign forms that both parties agree to use English and that might get banned too.

Simple solution which is a bit hard to do, all non-French speaking citizens need to leave Quebec. Quebec will slowly die on the vine as its population will get less and less over time. All English speaking provinces should entirely drop the french language. Its a waste of money having everything in English and French.
The reality is that these politicians don’t care about “protecting French” and have nothing against English. The real goal is to have enough people to win a eventual referendum and split Canada, so inmoral politicians can have more power and steal more money. Only brain washed people, easy to adoctrínate, believe their game is “protecting french”. It’s all BS.
It might be a good idea to organize Lesotho like French only enclave in Quebec around Victoriaville with all eager francophones moving there. Montreal has half of Quebec population and French language is not that popular in there. The more effort is put to enforce French language, the less popular it will be. (strangely enough)
I have lived in Quebec for the last 25 years. I have never ever had a problem with languages .I speak English and French and other languages. I speak English and French at work ,never had a problem .when I see my doctor I speak in English and French ,never had a problem.
This aged poorly. Someone send this to Legault now that he's trying to force French on our health care system. Canada has always been about Freedom, being forced to speak a singular language is not being free.
Deserves the resignation of Legault Montreal Port smuggling illegal vehicles, illegal drugs, illegal guns, illegal immigrants organized crime French and the 6 th New Italy mafia and the China Triad mafia Quebec.
I agree with the Premier. My grandparents were French Canadians from Quebec. I was born and raised in California and of course all my schooling was in English. We're thinking of re-locating to Montreal and according to Mr Legault we'd have the choice of sending our kids to either English or French Schools. We would send them to French schools no question about it.
You are naive. As an immigrant to Quebec, you would have no choice but to send your kids to school only in French. Because of the unconstitutional "law" that was passed 101/96/14, only English speakers educated in Canada, in English, are allowed to send to kids to English school in Quebec. Your lack of knowledge about the topic is humourous, and should tell you to stay quiet about it in the future
@@eddie-xi6ls Lol, that is both funny and delusional. Quebec is not a State (with a capital S!) it is just a province. A province subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms. I speak, write and teach French (real beautiful Parisien French, not the Pète de Cul, le Quebecois, le "dérivé cancéreux" de cette belle langue). Protecting the language is good. I agree. However, reducing services to non-French speaking people is a bit on the fascist side. Case in point, Protection du Citoyen is OBLIGED to communicate in French only
What you are saying is the real Fascism. You don’t respect accents. The Quebecois is a magnificent accent coming from the old French spoken in Charente and Brittany regions of France.
I wouldn’t call it a "dérivé cancéreux". Languages change over time especially if it’s spoken in two different continents. Of course it’s not gonna sound the same. There’s no “right way to speak French”

C’est à 99% la même langue. Imbécile. You understand that a Scottish and an Australian speaks the same language but with different accents and very few different words. Exactly the same thing for the French in Quebec vs French from other part of the world.
Quebec does have to be like this to a big degree or else Quebecers will lose there sense of Culture and also ther french language in the process. They must protect it or else it will fail and be lost. Now unfortunately the English speaking people will suffer so there has to be better ways for them also.

Because when I go to Toronto I can get access to healthcare in French? Right? You are liar. You have a superiority complex. You expect that everybody in Canada should speak English. Yes most of people in Quebec are bilingual. And to be honest our grand prends had a inferiority complex because of the many humiliations they faced in Canada. But it’s enough. Next time I will try to get healthcare in French in Toronto. You are misinformed, the only bilingual part of Canada is the New Brunswick. Quebec has a single official language which is French. There is no racial cleansing on going in Montreal.
5:08 the french speakers love to shrug just like that and lie to us in english then go talk trash about us in french. Had this happen to me 100+ times.
Because there’s no other way. If we talk about foreign migrants, most of them are taught English at school in their countries to some degree. But hardly anyone is taught French. Since most people are lazy, they don’t want to learn a new language from scratch, so they stick to English, of which they know at least the basics. And if you don’t force it on them, they won’t bother learning French, which is disrespectful. It’s so privileged and audacious to come to someone else’s land and expect the environment to adjust to you instead of you adjusting to it. You should learn the language of the place you’re moving to, not the other way around.

@@jtruong416I agree. It’s one thing to Preserve official status of a language, but it’s another thing to oppress and penalize other languages, especially one that is an official language of the nation. Quebec is the only place in the world where Somebody meeting medical care will face penalties for speaking English. If linguistic and cultural aesthetics are a priority over the most basic of human needs, then something is seriously wrong. This is more than a language issue, it’s a humanitarian crisis.

I believe montreal should be apart from quebec in terms of bill 96 and have a bilingual status. If a community like cote st- luc ,who as a Bilingual status and are fine with it ,why can montreal as a whole have that same bilingual status ?
I live in the only bilingual province of canada (New-Brunswick). Having a bilingual status makes the assimilation faster; it's definitely not the solution. I live in the Acadian peninsula where I should be able to completely live my daily life in French; however it's not the case anymore. Make Montréal bilingual and this will happen there too.
@@Alternity666 mind your own business. Do you see me pushing for the decline of french in your province? No. Do you want other provinces to reject bilingualism?? No.
He's right, the French language and culture should be protected, encouraged and celebrated, but not at the expense of the English minority population and its institutions. What Quebec needs is a competent government that would promote and encourage the learning of the French language.
i'm gonna start off by saying that if the entire world spoke the same language the world would be infinitely better place. that being said let me try to do a better job of defending the english language then that reporter who spoke. i can't even explain how irritating it is when asked about the french language in quebec how politicians will default to it being good for tourism. which may be true but for that to be the main selling point for keeping people divided? for adding fuel to the fire of an already divided polulation for them to reject english and introduce a seedy situation where the language is being witch hunted all over town. instead of encouraging the learning of two languages (which should be the main selling point) to seemingly fight back against it's incorporation. which it just so happens to be the dominant language worldwide. that seems primitive. its hard to accept a system which openly rejects broadening. one new selling point that i haven't heard of is that its good for the restaurants! as legault said. what? restaurants? yeah like the restaurants that are being threatened due to languages laws for the word pasta? it's completely unacceptable that anywhere in the country of canada that an english speaking person should feel out of place or out of context. that is to say that english is so widely used worldwide that by now it should be totally accepted as an intenational language if it already hasn't been. why is this important? because of the first thing that i mentioned. people should not be running away from the unification of language. in fact they should be running towards it for the simple reason of simplicity. imagine a world where their are no language barriers. were already headed in that direction its just a matter of time. but what if we weren't stalling it. what if we encouraged it instead. you heard it straight from the mouth of legault that it would seemingly happen overnight. so is this a matter of system functionality? or is this seemingly a matter of historcal ego/pride driven systems? sometimes i wonder if our societies were ran by engineers with a conscious how that would be? engineers with a sense of humanity. not robots. they would build systems for efficiency and output. a system for the people by the people. their are plenty of things to fight for in this world. language is not one of them in my opinion. i know you may think that ironic that i am saying that given i am defending english but i only choose english because it seems to make the most economic sense.
The question is never answered. The journalist asks about a detail of the Bill, and the politicians have their set response in their back pocket to tell us that French is important to Quebec, which we all know..
If the whole point of language is to communicate with the most people possible then speaking mandarin chinese is the best move. The reason it's better to know english is because if you do you can communicate with over 90% of the continent. Raise your children in french, how are they going to go get a job in Mississippi? Youre ultimately limiting your children's opportunities. If you wanna keep it french, dont force it. If the people wanna do it, they will.

I think it's great that Quebec will stay French. As an American that speaks metropolitan French at a conversational level and loves traveling to Quebec, I like the fact that people speak French and hold to traditional French culture there. I don't agree with Legault on many things politically, but I do think that something must be done to protect French in Quebec, the same way that the USA should be making strong efforts to protect English everywhere outside of Puerto Rico.
Of course is French , anglophone can live in Québec too without problem , 95% of Quebecois dont care about the language you talk , its about being respectful about our culture , you dont go in some Asian place for talking spanish right?
