It's funny, for me it's the exact opposite. Trump's voice, tone, cadence, his entire sing-songy way of speaking repulses me so much that _everything_ he says sounds dumb, crazy, narcissistic, smug, creepy and more before the contents of his words even had a chance to sink in. I'm currently wondering what it would be like to listen to his nauseating voice say completely normal, sane, perhaps even wise things - it actually breaks my brain a little bit. Thankfully (I guess?) I won't have to find out for real anytime soon 🙄

I recommend people curious about the highly emotional issue of how pregnancies that won’t result in a viable newborn are handled learn about “perinatal hospice”. Providing comfort care for severely deformed newborns is no more homicide than allowing anyone else in the end phase of a terminal illness to pass comfortably and peacefully. Sad; tragic, in the case of young people; but necessary and merciful. ❤️‍🩹

She is experiencing a physically and emotionally traumatic event. She is losing the baby she wants to have. People who are pro life genuinely believe that life starts at conception, and that abortion is murder. They're not anti choice, they just believe that choices leading to murder are wrong. On the other hand, people who are pro choice don't believe abortion is murder. And in that case, it's wrong to tell women what they are and aren't allowed to do with their bodies. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I do think you've made an unfair generalization about the other side.

Depressing fact: Springfield, Ohio had a young boy killed in a school bus accident, I believe within the past two years. The man that caused the accident is Hatian, and was recently sentenced. The parents of that young boy have recently come out asking people to stop with the hate toward Hatians and using their son as an excuse.

We had an accident like that here in Canada. Wasnt hating, but the guy got deported. I think he should have been held to trial here. And that shitting on all migrants because of that, isn't fair. Their promotion of Trump’s election-fraud claims was the basis for Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit against FOX, which the network settled for $787M. In the course of the suit, emails from within FOX were released which showed that the network’s owners, management and on-air talent all knew that Trump’s fraud claims were false, but they continually aired the conspiracy theories anyway.

Make sure those folks get a chance to express themselves. I spent a couple of months in one of those places. I knew i would get out, but some, younger than me even, could get stuck and forgotten in there. And all you've got time to do in there is think and watch TV. Make sure the FOX propaganda channel doesn't work on the cable system. It only takes a few seconds with a screwdriver.

Reminder: Trump won the 2nd highest number of votes for any presidential candidates but has never once won the popular vote. As the US population gets bigger all the time, literally every major candidate will get more and more votes so we need to look at proportion not raw vote count. The best proportion of the popular vote for any president was LBJ in 1964 who got 61.1% of the vote. The Republicans have only won the popular once in this century (2004).

When people say the economy, they mean food and housing. That's not the gauge of the economy. What TRIGGERED the food price gouging was the COLLUSION with OPEC to price gouge oil. It caused a ripple effect through industries that have to pay for trucking goods. Biden got oil prices down by flooding the market with reserves. Then he replenished oil reserves by buying back at lower prices. We know it's price gouging, because these companies are reporting RECORD PROFITS! Housing is another story. Republicans in Congress and Trump deregulated private equity firms to buy up housing and other real estate, so now we're competing with corporate cash. These firms treat real estate as a commodity whereas we NEED homes to live in!

My wife is Ojibwe (from MN too, hi!) and this is the FIRST EVER election she's voting in. She is deeply against the federal government (for obvious reasons) and cannot bring herself to vote. I've always supported her decision. But watching her change over the course of these debates and news cycles during this pre-election time has been amazing to watch. She definitely doesn't like Harris, but she is going to vote for her because she approves of her policies and hates Trump just enough to get her to go to the polls for the first time. You're definitely right, this is a race between Harris and the couch, and if Harris can get a rightfully indignant indigenous woman to vote for her, I think she can get any undecided person too. Thank you for this break down, I watched the debate last night and also found myself wanting to go and look up some of what Trump was talking about because... what the hell. I also wanted to know more about those tariffs that the Biden administration kept, as I've mostly only heard about Trump's newly proposed ones and his previous ones that DEEPLY hurt American farmers. So this was a really helpful video. Thanks!

Because they repeated questions to Trump and fact checked him, that was improvement. I agree that every time he began to speak, his microphone was turned back on. One comment I saw wondered if the moderators were the ones controlling the mics? I have seen other women commenting on this -- historians Heather Cox Richardson and Joanne Freeman. Cox Richardson pointed out that Trump spoke 39 times to Harris' 23; the time was 41.9 minutes compared to 37.1 minutes, but the extra time did not help Trump given he was lying and rattling off tired, extremist MAGA attacks. I can't speak for other outlets as I typically by pass commentary until a day or so after these events.

Yes it was really irritating especially when he kept rebutting when he wasn't supposed to and they did not give her equal standing to respond by cutting her off. She clearly pointed out he had two rebuttals and she had one. But they moved on anyway. Fair is Fair people. I can give this less weight considering how well she did and how true to his nature he was. But if it had a more balanced feel at the end I would be livid at how she was treated in this respect. Their only job, technically, was to give them equal time and ensure they follow the rules of engagement that they agreed to before the debate. If they warned he would be cut off if he spoke out of turn then that's what they were supposed to do. Talk about going off the rails... he would have stormed out.

The debate did not change my mind. Harris is a rational competent politician with years of government experience and definite plans for policies and concern for the nation. Trump is a horror show pathological liar who markets bloodbaths for his personal gain. This debate did reassure me after the gut punch of the Biden Trump debate where Biden showed his age and made it difficult to believe that he would last another year, let alone four. Even with the certainty that Harris bested Trump, I'm still shocked that the polling is still so close. Trump supporters should be forced to transcribe everything he says so that they can struggle through his actual words instead of blindly trusting him and/or relishing how upsetting he is to everyone else.

And the fact he let it show not just in some ignorable niche appearance, but like one of the most widely watched ones, is very valuable. A lot of them really do vote for him for the familiar name and party, and have no idea how he conducts himself in recent appearances or what his plans/concepts of plans are. The echo chambers are deeply unhinged and way bigger than we'd ever hope, but still not his full voterbase. The many who aren't in that space, will likely be at least a little offput by last night, and knowing him, he won't stay quiet and let those actions be forgotten. May he double down and have a descent into insanity only rivalled by a certain author

My family was pretty convincing though and I never bothered fact checking them (I will be after watching this lol) so I was leaning towards trump, yk, I know nothing about Kamala. But… safe to say my mind has been changed. I’ve never watched a trump debate before, I didn’t know how crazy he is. There are so many things that alone should be fatal to trump's favorability as a candidate, but to add to the extremely big pile: Are people really fine with a guy who spreads day old rumors during a presidential debate? The pet eating thing is so new, yet trump is happy to confidently include it into his limited time with no concern about it blowing up in his face, which it did. And it's far from the first time he's done it in these past 2 months alone. Do we want a guy who will do absolutely 0 fact checking before believing any given thing he reads? Harris is far from perfect, but I'd definitely be a lot more concerned about her if she used yesterday's random facebook rumors as debate material.

Because our political system of elections puts so much emphasis on the presidential races. We have entire videos, like this one, talking about what each candidate said about what and when to whom and for why. We have almost nothing focusing on the races for senate or representative. Most people can't even name their rep, and probably only know a senator if its a big name like Cruz. So we start thinking that the president is the only one that matters. Note, not criticizing this video, just saying its the illustration that demonstrates the point.

because the border wasn’t in need of being closed when he was in office, and i don’t think it should be closed now because that’s not gonna do anything. immigrants will just come in illegally rather than going through the legal process if it was completely closed. the rate of immigration since 2020-2021 has gone up drastically, which i’m not saying is a bad thing because they are documented. but at this point, it is blatant misinformation to say that the current administration hasn’t let loose with the border. now how many are coming in per day/week, and where they are going, is more anecdotal evidence because they are undocumented so the numbers can’t really be input accurately. regardless, to say that they’re ruining cities and eating everyone’s pets is fear mongering, but to say the border and illegal immigration isn’t a mess right now is just simply not true. i’d like to think of myself as unbiased, but this border thing in my opinion is really simple from the common American’s perspective.

My impression is that the timing of the DOJ work was held back by the democratic party so that Trump would run. This would ensure their victory because they beat him once already and with all these crimes it would be a sure thing. I don' t know if they had any idea that his supporters would not be shaken by his being convicted. I think there's something going on with polling. How could he have lost by a reasonable level in 2020, now be convicted for multiple crimes and indicted for so many more yet to be tried and the polls show them virtually neck and neck? Certainly the party of law and order couldn't be so inclined to back him further. Dick Cheney comes out to denounce him and announce he will vote for Harris and yet the average Republican is still hanging onto him? I can't believe it. Not in a vague "I can't believe it" kinda way... but I really just don't.

The issue with the "Are Americans Better off now" question, is the fact that Kamala could have pointed to COLD HARD FACTUAL EVIDENCE that American Citizen buying power is STRONGER now than during the Pre COVID 2019 Trump Economy. Whether or not we feel the increase in groceries, our buying power is stronger now, and equates out to around a $1400 increase in buying power across the board. She could have VERY easily dropped that factual statement, but she avoided answering the question. This was a fumble, and it's a fumble the Right Wing is going to exploit, but if thats the worst of it? It can't be worse than "Hatian Immigrants are eating cats and dogs" and wild claims of post birth "Abortions" and forced transition surgeries on Illegal Immigrant Prisoners?

Kamala was right not to answer the "are people better off" question because it's not a policy question or even really a performance question. An actual answer would be necessarily wasted by a lot of prefacing as to what is and isn't within the president or federal government's influence. What people should be concerned with is whether or not we as a country would be better served by Trump or Harris as president for the next four years. Not these loaded backwards looking comparisons judging the two under completely different historical global circumstances.
