Imagine somebody crash lands on your planet, builds a massive factory, pollutes everything to the point of you mutating, and takes off in a rocket in just under an hour and a half.
following the lore, most of factorio players are like "Oh, crap. I crahs landed in this inhospitable planet. I think i better make this my new home", and this guy went full "fuck this shit, i'm leaving as fast as i can"
Holy shit, is this what Factorio speedrunning is now? Some voodoo circuitry, items passed by a daisy chain of inserters, 3 items running on one belt... My mind is blown, well played
Factorio speedrunning has come a long way since 2020, sitting at home is finally good for something! ;) To put things in perspective, the fastest any% TAS isn't even 4 minutes shorter. Sure, there are many "idle" aspects of Factorio; even if you aren't doing anything, your machines are. So if you build faster because of TAS, you still have to wait just as long (or build more, which means starting the step with more resources, so you have to make more in the step preceding it, etc...) for production to complete. BUT: That TAS was about 20 minutes ahead of the best "manual" any% run of its time, so closing that gap up to 4 minutes is mighty impressive.

AFAIK, the only TAS disciplines so far are either any% (lots of resources, no biters) or really short ones to steel axe, electronics, or the "getting on track" achievement.
I'm just a new Factorio player and damn there were points here where my head legitimately started to hurt from processing what the heck was happening 😂
This is amazing such well timed execution and planning beyond the capabilities of almost any normal gamer. The practice to be able to do this in 10 hours would be difficult 1.25 hours is a phenomenal Congo Rats!
On my current play through of Factorio, I got to oil mining in 6 hours while you got to it in 30 minutes. It is interesting how optimized the speed run is compared to a casual play through.
dont forget they have the god map with oodles of rss right under them the entire time, with coal rocks beside them when the land. this is key for the start to get going so smooth.

Does anyone know how he does the quick inserter placement at 10:22 , is it some kind of setting to smart place? He also does it when setting up the steam engines before this with the power poles
Can someone explain the undergrounds by the red circuits? I was expecting something to be built there, but nothing ever was. Is it just to be nicer to the construction bots having to place fewer items?
@@Hawk7886 thanks Hawk, I do play Factorio. I was wondering why his power poles had no lines connecting each other (effectively breaking a chain) and whether it was an any% thing
@@MikeJones-kh2be I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood. Do you have a specific timestamp you can refer to? I didn't see any parts of the base that had disconnected power poles. The copper cables can be hard to see sometimes.
Probably it is too long to do it in one seating. 100% with custom settings is already 5+ hours. Default settings will bring in biters and has a lot less resources - you can easily triple the time.
