The Factorio fan in me is screaming in terror and interest. The Project Hail Mary fan in me is screaming because they look like Rocky. The Aracnophobe in me is just uncomfortable, but that's nothing a flamethrower won't fix.
Lore-wise it looks like this will be the planet where the engineer gets the idea for the Spidertron, which would explain the obvious similarities. Just a small detail that I feel is quite cool.
You're probably right! The new rocket turret is unlocked on Gleba and looks like a Spidertron head, it'd make sense if it is a prereq for the full machine. @@ViniciusNegrao_ Looks like there will be something like that going by the devblog, eggs that can be farmed somehow with "proper technology".
@@ViniciusNegrao_ Early in the development there were alien artifacts, you collected them by killing spawners (nests) but the devs decided it went against the "automate everything" philosophy of the game
So, this seems like the planet where the engineer figures out 'Hey, I can make a spider mech!' I wonder if the heavy spider will also be buildable, kind of a 'Assault/Heavy Spidertron'
Apparently they still need to do some work internally because of things like the legs being thicker and having the “shoulder” joints actually move around the head (whereas on the spidertron the joints where the legs attach to the body don’t actually rotate with the direction it’s facing
It's inverse kinematics. The inserters use this system as well and the spidertron used to have fast inserters as placeholder graphics. The new agricultural tower will have some form of system similar to this as well but I heard they were wrestling with the drawing logic for that so it might be different. I do really want to see how they programmed this honestly
@@advena4766 I'm arachnophobic and I think what makes spiders scary (For me) is 3 things 1. the proportions, a spider with tiny beady eyes and a huge thorax with long legs will freak me out, but a little jumping spider is cute 2. The fur, a right amount of gross spider hair makes them nasty as fuck 3. The speed. the faster the scarier
>see walking squids "Ohh, cute! You cuddly squigglies you!" >see organic spidertron "NOPE! NOPE! GET AWAY FROM ME!" >see Giant Enemy Crab" "Well... at least you're not spitting your babies at me, right? Right???"
This is so freaking awesome. This whole video feels so excitingly new while still feeling so... Factorio-like. Without having played yet, I can already pretty confidently say that you guys have eclipsed every expectation anyone could have had from the DLC.
I know it's a lot to ask but I hope every planet has unique enemies and environmental hazards. Also please add acid patches to exploded spawners, they make wiping out bases more interesting/challenging.
@@gamerzweiI thought lightning was going to be the only hazard on Fulgora but you also unlock the tesla turret there. I'm more interested to see what Vulcanus has in store for us. Maybe some sort of rock monster? I did see them use laser turrets on the planet but no enemies to match them yet.
Personal defence lasers can’t shoot the wrigglers in flight mode it seems? I would think that we could shoot them down before they landed, and prioritize them over the big bugs that seem to have laser resistance. I love the idea that we are now the little guy bringing down these massive tank like creatures though, like noble freedom fighters destroying the tanks of the oppressors!
I assume it can't shoot them down because they're really just projectiles that spawn enemies when they hit, which might mean lasers would need to be changed a bit under the hood to work against them. Maybe we could get a new Point Defense System to put in our power armor for this and other enemies? lasers for enemies, Point Defense for Projectiles? I dunno just a thought.
@@polomarco7053You are right, we are the invading Israelis, they are the Palestinians defending their homeland from an unjust occupation, the path to peace is just for us to leave Gleba … which we will do once we get enough space fruit!
It's honestly awesome that this is gonna be a real thing. From what I understand. They actually hired the guy who made the space exploration mod to work on it as well. Seeing someone make a DLC scale mod I'm assuming was a big motivator for this.
When I was young, I dreamed that I was in a world where life spread around me like fungi, corals, hydras, and everything was swarming around me. Some of the creatures were tall and big, and they had small creatures living on them. Most of them had poison or acid that they used to hunt their prey. I often have this dream. I remember that there was a group of people I was with who were being hunted by these strange creatures.
I am so fcking hyped to play the official factorio space age!!!! I never even bothered playing mods cause I like to play what the game devs have intended. So this will be HUUUGE for me! I will probably not leave my room for the next month or so
I think it would be cool to add a teaser easter egg to the base game a month berfore the release of space exploration where a bug asteroid from the expansion lands on the facory with rare odds
Dayum, i think this might get me back to playing factorio again... After about 4 years and over 5k hrs prior the break i think the fire in my hearts' gate are finaly lit again for this game...
the movement is so grotesque. good job. i bought factorio a couple days ago and im not even gonna boot it up until i finish rdr2 because i feel like i'll get too caught up in growing my factory lol. cant wait to play it tho
Since Earth 2140, my mind always misinterprets, in which direction lasers shoot. So to me, the enemies here shoot laser at you, but quickly overheat and explode.
After Space Age it would be neat if the Factorio team also make an alien world focused expansion - thinking of something like a Scavenger's Reign inspired bio-focused scenario with its own tech tree.
