I'm a social worker interested in this program. I'm working on my clinical license now. I do not work at a HRSA site now, and am considering applying to HRSA sites down the road. I'd really like to hear from social workers enrolled in this program, and how they approached the job search and HRSA application process. It concerns me that I could potentially work at a site and not receive the award because I would specifically leave my current job to do this.
I am a NHSC scholar and am about to transition into my service years. Aside from the less-than-desirable communication skills of the ones running the program, I have had a pretty good experience overall. I can definitely see how people might get caught up in some tough situations, but I just signed on for a pretty awesome job in a nice little town in Colorado... and I am ~$300k less in loans than my classmates so I would say it is a pretty good deal.
