Thankful for this video. I have been working on fixing my mesh system for several hours and was very perplexed why I could not get it connected. The Reset Button was the key and waiting 10 minutes before attempting to connect. I can't say thank you enough because this content was not found in any of the other tutorials I had watched. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! I was so incredibly frustrated trying to do a rest on these! Your tutorial solveed my problem and walked me through it seamlessly. Yay!
No problem, thanks for watching, not sure why but waiting patiently is not in any instructions anywhere and if you don't wait that 8 minutes or so it will never reset.
Thank you thank thank you! Worked in IT for a long time and i find myself pretty capable of figuring stuff out but this crap drove me nuts. i consider myself a bit of a Google fanboy but the reset process is just plain stupid... it should not have been this difficult (and i shouldn't have started drinking before i attempted it lol) . i just wasn't waiting long enough when the orange/yellow light started and kept doing it over and over again until I found your video. Thanks again!
Thanks for this. I got a new faster modem and I have been trying to recreate my google mesh wifi setup which has a google nest router and two nest access points plus one google wifi access point. I was able to reset the nest equipment but apparently I did not wait long enough for the google wifi access point to reset and google home couldn’t find it. Thanks for posting.
Like everyone else thank you for the help very clear instructions. Now that I have reset my 3 Google mesh units can someone send me the link to the video how to set up the new network. I relocated to a new home out of state so trying to set up the mesh network. Thx!
Thank you so much for this video! I bought someone else set and totally no idea how to go about reseting and thank you so mich for the explaination of waiting and finally i did it!
Dang! That was an informative video! This Google cr@p really drove me nuts, and nowhere in the manual does it say to wait for 8+ minutes!!! Again, thx for the info! 👍
That wait is the hardest part... lol I have been doing home security and automation since 2005.... I have learned "30 seconds" could be 10 minutes depending on a lot of factors... Thanks for watching and dropping a comment. Please subscribe if you haven't already will help me out, I almost have enough subs to get monetized.
I have 3 access Points. 1st point is connected to my home router. When I perform the factory reset, do I unplug the other 2 points or leave them plugged in?
I usually unplug them and reset them one by one. Do the main one first at your modem. Then plug one in at a time reset and connect. You probably don't "have" to unplug them, but I find it easier to just put them all in the same room, and connect 1 at a time then move them after they are set up to where they need to go. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@safesoundsystemsinc2005 how do I connect one at a time? Do I need to plug the ethernet cable in each one at a time to be able to connect or setup them?
No problem, that is the most likely problem for everyone resetting those. 8 minutes is a long time while your staring at it... lol Thanks for watching and dropping a commen.t.
I know this video is like a year ago but hoping for some help as I try again to set up my Google Wifi it says connected after connected in google home it says that I need to connect the ethernet cable but I already connect it on the modem still says I need to connect the ethernet cable! It is frustrating to set up this not easy! Hoping for some enlightenment on how to solve this issue. Thanks
Just had the same issue within the past 30 days. If you set up the new router in a different Google “Home” account, it will only recognize it as a new network and require an Ethernet cable. If you link to the “”Home” account that includes other existing Google WiFi devices, it does not require the Ethernet cable and should set it up as an additional nest router. It took me about six hours to figure this out and set up the new nest router. As an FYI, the Google help desk was of NO a help.
Glad it helped, yes that is all about patience. Many of the newer "Smart" devices are the same, I have no patience left some days. lol Thanks for watching, and dropping a comment.
Hello. I just reset the three points and the lights are solid blue . Can you tell me what I have to do next? I don’t see how to access the Google wifi yet on my system
Thank you so much 🙏 Checking wifi helped. I had four, one reset just as you said, two had reset but had very low lighting & the fourth worked on its second try 😊 Did you ever post the video on setting it up?
No, I actually install Amazon Eero systems for my customers, most seem to use Alexa and the Eero since owned by Amazon works better with them. I had just pulled that unit from a customers house, Ironically a year later still sitting on the shelf of the work van, "just incase" I have a customer with a bad one that just wants to replace or maybe add for more range. Usually it is pretty easy, you just need to make sure 1 is plugged into the main router of the house, and from there on should be as simple as following the app instructions, they have made it pretty user friendly.
@@safesoundsystemsinc2005 Thank you anyway🌝 I am stuck in Bolivia & don't have access to purchasing a different system. It used to work with Google WiFi App but when they migrated to Google Home it stopped working. I'll hopefully figure it out. Your re-set video was a great first step. Thank you🙏🏻
@@CIF369 Sorry can't help more and being in America the setup here may not even be the same there. There are different rules and regulations even for big companies like Google, could just be a Google issue in the country. Good luck..
So sorry been traveling for the holiday. You don't have to reset them all but you will need to update the passwords. As long as you have access to your mobile app, you really only need to Reset if for some reason you forgot your password, just bought the system from someone and cannot access it or you are having major difficulties and need a clean slate. It doesn't hurt to reset them, but again should just be updating the password. If they are "Hardwired" you should not have to do anything besides unplug them and plug them back in. Thanks for commenting, again sorry for the slow response.
I use Eero 99% of the time for routers, the couple Google I have done from the app there should be a "Profile" or "Settings" page that you can change the user name and password. If you are just resetting it the first time you set it up it will ask you to enter a network name and password. Sorry cant help much more than that.
@@safesoundsystemsinc2005 Follow up: Problem solved. It turned out my LAN setting was turned OFF in my iPhone settings. Turned it ON, and problem solved ! Thank you !
Question? When you scan the code and it says no wifi found is that because I didn't wait the this video says ? My system went down and I wiped the history and unplugged the extenders. And still no connection. My system has the button on the bottom. And upto 2 days ago I have awesome internet and a great resting router. Need your help. Thanks Troy
Most likely just didn't wait long enough after resetting. If you can get near your router you can run an ethernet line to it also to set it up, then just unplug and move it where you need it. But 8-12 minutes for that reset... Not sure why but it seems like an hour while waiting.
My device seems to just get stuck in a loop of turn on goto blue flashing light, blue solid light, blank, blue flashing light etc etc. I kept waiting for like 30 minutes to 2 hours and tried to factory reset multiple times. Its still stuck at blue
@@raycon4475 so today I have a 45 minute discussion with google support. We tried everything. They emailed to sent a replacement unit but i don’t know if they have support in Middle East Apparently someone who had such issue used galeforce method to root the device and then bring it back to life. Let’s see
@@DanishSiddiqui1984 I reset them by holding down reset button while puck is unplugged for 10 secs and then kept holding down button till pulsing blue. Then on phone under Wi-Fi I picked the puck and then did the set up process.
I watched many videos from Google on how to set up, delete the Home app and set up the Mesh. At no time did I ever hear about the reset button. Thank you.
Can you plug it directly into your router with an ethernet cable? If so pull the plug, attach with an ethernet cable, plug back in and reset one more time. If not you may just have a defective unit, one other thing you can try is to switch the power cord with another unit. I'm not sure with the Google but the Eeros I have had issues with power supplies not putting out enough power, they light up the unit but will not "run" the unit. Hopefully that helps.
