Does resetting to factory settings reset the theater; Netflix, Hulu etc? I just sold my car and I forgot to factory reset so I’m trying to call the dealership to do it for me.

Do you lose any key upgrades ie. (FSD), (Premium connectivity), Ludicrous Upgrade) if you do the factory reset on a USED Tesla purchase from a 3rd party seller (Dealer)? I hear story Tesla can remove those features at anytime for 2nd or 3rd owners. Thoughts?

I just purchased my Model 3 Performance a week ago with autopilot upgrade. I decided to reset it a week later because there were too many features that linked to the previous owner. I did not lose any features. Including my 30 day trial of Premium Connectivity (now 23 days). I'm realizing this car is about as much as it is with SOFTWARE vs HARDWARE. You want autodriving and summoning - gotta pay for that feature$$$. The previous owner paid and the feature was still there when I bought it used.

@GoingUp XV Haven't tried yet because work has charging for free. It should work though because the car is linked to my Tesla account in the app.

What kind of battery troubles did you have, and did you take it to the Tesla dealer yet, what did they say?

lmfao you can hypermile with standard regenerative braking you just have to get used to not letting your foot completely off the pedal. youre probably used to hypermiling on a prius. i managed to get 65mpg on a full tank on my prius.

So I bought a used 2021 Tesla yesterday. As I was driving my car started beeping at me and I pulled over. Seems as tho, according to Tesla support, the original owner activated a 50 mph limit and activated valet mode. There is a pin that prompts me to type in which I don’t know. I’ve already requested to change ownership yesterday via Tesla but was told it would take 72 hours to 6 weeks!! So I’m basically stuck with a car I can’t use because eveything wants the code! I can’t type in my user info because the Tesla hasn’t been “transferred yet” and the dealership can’t get a response from the buyers. What can I do!!

Hi Beth; My experience is that it takes Tesla about 2 days to complete the transfer. The longer delay COULD be caused by the previous owner not approving it. I would call the previous owner, get the PIN and push her to approve the transfer. I hope that helps.

How did it end up for you? I just bought a 2018 Model S from a 3rd party dealer. Found out the previous owner had already removed from account so couldn't transfer it to me. I did the submit docs in the app using the bill of sale because I have to wait for dealer to get me the registration info to take to license branch. Hit the submit button and literally 5 seconds later screens went black. I about crapped myself thinking I bricked it, but 45 seconds later re-booted and I had full app control and ownership transferred. Pretty sure it happened instantly because previous owner had already removed themselves.

If you factory reset the car, does that mean you gotta redo the ownership claim for it or does it keep that??

The factory reset made no changes to the ownership details. So you are safe Luke.

will this allow the car to recognize any self replaced parts like charger port or will I need to take it into Tesla Service to get the system to recognize any added parts?

That is a good question I do not have a clear answer to, but I don't THINK it will require you to take it back to Tesla if you added parts. Certainly in my case I had added an aftermarket cell charger and it worked just fine after the reset.

@@URTechDotCa there is a youtube video from a fellow who replaced his charge port on a Model S. It wasn't recognized until he took it to Tesla Service and $125 later, they had 'reset' and detected the replaced part. Hard to get a straight answer here - I don't know if those outside Tesla actually know.
