I just purchased a 2021 28' GN and I am pretty happy with many of the items you show, but there are a few things that have me a bit baffled when it comes to their interior arrangement. First off, they put the only tray/bin directly above the clothing hooks. In a stock trailer, this is the only logical spot to put your oil jugs. The tray is only partially welded so if an oil jug were to tip over and spill, you can say goodbye to the thousands of dollars in riding gear you have hanging on the hooks. Bad design in my view. Second, the gooseneck area is the logical place to put your gear bags but they chose to mount both the sub and the breaker box just barely off the floor. One excited toss of a heavy gear bag and you can say goodbye to the sub or the breaker panel. The third item is the location of the front surround speakers. They are clear up in the gooseneck. You can barely hear the music in the very front of the trailer. They should have placed them just behind the stereo and above the front ramp. My last complaint is the fact that the ski carbides dig into the very leading edge of the trailer, right next to the clear plastic gap protector. They should have added a glide protector like they do at the leading edge of the ramp. This is going to be a rust spot in no time at all. I know most will say that I am being picky and just complaining but if people don't voice their opinions, then the factory will never know what we think. None of these items are deal-breakers, like my salesman talking me out of the cold weather package, but they are little things that could be improved. Speaking of the cold weather package, if anyone is looking at purchasing these trailers and thinking they will dry their sleds out inside the trailer without the extra heater, you are going to be extremely unhappy. Trip one: 20 degrees, 6 sleds. All the single heater did was turn the trailer into a rain forest and literally made it rain inside the trailer after 5 hours of the heater running. Trip 2: about the same temp, maybe a bit warmer, 4 sleds. Same exact situation. Ran the heater for 4 hours, opened the vents and ran the roof fan for 2 hours with the heater still running. Still condensated everywhere and sleds never fully dried. I don't know if the second heater and extra floor insulation would fix the issue or not but I am going to be adding at least another 40K BTUs to my trailer in hopes of actually being able to get it warm enough to actually dry the sleds. The last issue I have run into is a few spots where the undercoating was missed and there is exposed foam where they insulated the floor ducting. I will say, the paint job everywhere is spot on and looks extremely nice. I do wish they would have put a light under the gooseneck area to illuminate the bed of the truck for hitching up in the dark. Unfortunately, my bed light is only activated when I turn on the interior dome lights of the truck and that reflects so bad off the back window that is worse than having the bed light and dome lights off. That is also an easy fix. A light inside the front compartment would have also been nice. These trailers get used during the shortest days of the year and hooking up and unhooking is often done in the dark (for me at least). I would have also have liked to see a shut-off switch to kill everything in the trailer. I installed one in the front compartment so that I can completely kill the entire battery drain. I understand why the factory doesn't do this as it kills the carbon monoxide detector but if your trailer sits for long periods such as during the summer or between sled and dirt season, you will have dead batteries. Overall, I am happy with the trailer, but I would love to have received a follow up "How did we do?" type of questionnaire from the factory. American-made products mean they have easy access to their customer base and they should be using that as a way to get good user feedback. Maybe they will send one out after the first season as I have only had the trailer for a couple months now. Overall, I am impressed with the quality of the trailer and would definitely recommend it to others with the caveats that I mentioned above. Even though you spent $30k+, you are going to have to spend some more to address some shortcomings. Some expected, but some should have been addressed during construction/design.
That’s not any worse than their Freeride trailer they just made. No generator which isn’t that big of a deal but still the 5200lbs axles?! Why can’t we get 7200’s already. The trailer weighs 6100 empty. With 80 gals of gas that adds quite a bit too. Next the amp and sub is still on the floor and now you have a bed there. Imagine waking up in the morning to you punched a hole through it while you slept. I wish I could just buy one empty and do all the work myself and actually build it to what it should be more like. Or if I’m paying 50k for one at least let me build it to how I want it or I won’t buy it
Why do they place the entry door on the drivers side unlike typical rv,s that do so on the passenger side? For people who want to use these, like the Freeride, as regular RV,s, this is a problem. Thanks.
It's nice for the average person to see why these cost so much. Damn nice and lots of little touches. Many, many man hours. it's just depressing knowing my house cost less than a new truck and trailer.
I just got my first sled and have been watching a ton of your videos. I live in Saskatchewan and if you could make a more basics skills guide for ditch banging, and not a whole ton of snow. That would be much appreciated.
Same concept you just have to have better technique, I’m from central Alberta and it’s the same, if you want some good sask riding check out ostacruser
Best thing to remember when ditch banging, is that culverts have a way of swallowing a ski right to the spindle and launching you. Take it easy, don't get hurt, and learn how the machine responds as you move around on it.
Dan, I’ve looked up to you as one of the top riders since the beginning but damn dude, that was an extreme let down when the boys from trails west were trying to talk about being home grown without college and truly being able to make an American made product and make a good living doing it. Then here you are cutting them off? Let them talk about one of the few great things this nation has left. Show some class and respect and stop trying to throw content at everybody.
