Haitians are very business minded people. The children born in the country will be Dominicans. Dominicans should embrace those who look like us as one of us. I totally agree that the immigrants should not have enclaves that set them apart from Dominicans.
Your idea and expression that our decline in population is due to chemicals used in Bananas is floored when you consider that St Lucia which has a population that is three times more than Dominica uses much more chemicals than Dominica. They have population growth while we have population decline.

Start implementing policies if we truly want to grow our population by bringing in other nationalities. We would not want to lose our culture!
There needs to be a welcoming mat for foreigners who are entrepreneurs and family oriented people who will procreate and increase the tax base with their business acumen at the same time . We have a serious issue also with Dominicans not wanting to pay even a small amount for services rendered to them. I’m talking about taxes, co pays for hospital services. How do they think the government can sustain subsidizing their every need . There should also be a tax incentive for people who eat more local unprocessed foods and exercise which will reduce the government’s overall debt in caring for these people with NCD’s.

In the 1980, St. Vincent and the Grenadines had 10,000 more citizens than Grenada. Today, It's the opposite, in Grenada's favor. Apart from handsome revenue inflow, CBI is contributing to Grenada's steady population expansion, with 8500 new citizens added in the past 24 months. There's a range of countries and cultures that SVG and Dominica can tap to come up to speed with the necessary population expansion rate and revenue inflows, should local incentives deemed unproductive.

Mr.durand is right.everyone may not have the ability to create businesses.in that case since we have a shortage of labor in domnica then we can get some of these migrants to fill those positions
How about promoting marriage of both men and women in school. family planing as being a class. teenage pregnancy is not the answer. Age 21 is the age of adulthood. Both males and females should be well educated in the dynamics of relationships and family planing upon graduation. Bringing in other nationalities is not the answer. brining in black people from other countries makes more sense, because they look like us, we share a history that is the same and the children will be Dominicans and there will not be a division in the population. Other nationalities where the people do not look like us and do not share the same history will create an imbalance, division in the population: for example the asian population in Jamaica, Guyanna, st. Kitts, who own the businesses? there's a division in those countries. The Black population is on the bottom of those countries, while the other nationalities are above them.
My take ,with better air travel and I mean an international airport improve Healthcare system and delivery,an improve economy,infrastructural development it is possible to grow the population.there ate many nationals who definitely return home and .any are desperate to come back but they are concern about these prerequisites which I mention before.government policies to look at inflation especially goods and services that are directly related to childbearing and children.maternnity allowances .all these would give both men and women to make children
