Fucking hell! 70's Debbie was the sexiest woman on the planet. And she wasn't a corporate media celeb. She was cool as fuck, a genuine punk / new wave pioneer.
Absolutely right. Her voice is incredible and SO versatile, from haunting and poignant to hard rock. I can't think of another female singer who could flip from angelic to raspy growl and back again in the space of a hair-flick.
I am rarely struck dumb by other humans, but I once stood next to Debbie Harry, at a publicity event in London. I could have spoken to her - she was temporarily aside from the toing and froing - but I was as though frozen, enraptured by her beauty. The little black dress, the tranquil eyes, the flawless skin, the air of unforced poise ...
I saw her in 1985 on Central Park South trying to hail a taxi, dressed elegantly and looking gorgeous. I timidly approached to meet her and she at first seemed a little put out because she was on her way somewhere. I was a tongue-tied fool, but she was kind, soft-spoken, and shook my hand. She was wearing long black gloves, tres en vogue.
I’ve never met her but since I was a teenage girl I’ve found her to be perfectly beautiful & fascinating to watch, whether performing or in interviews. A favourite clip is this one…
This really is my favourite song by Debbie & Blondie, bass guitar backbone included. They announced that they were coming here to Seattle area to play in July or August 2013, and I want to see them for the first time ever. I know Deborah is a little more than 10 years older than me, but I know she is still about 864 degrees F. Ka- BOOOOOM! :)
Fabulous compilation! This song got played on Jo Wiley show Radio 2 last night!!! Jo has made Parallel Lines her Vinyl Revival album of the week!! Blondie made such wonderful music, and Debbie Harry is a Goddess!!
Wow, didn't know that until this comment! Wouldn't have guessed Fripp would be on a Blondie album. I guess the only proggy thing about Blondie is that one part of "Heart of Glass" that goes into 7/4.
She was much more than an image. I know Warhohl would say, but of course". But there's months of Warhgohl and only minutes of Debbie Harri, and that don't mean he was a better artist. i'm so bent toward her; that's the point.
Yes, and wouldn't that have been an interesting direction to have gone down? Blondie doing 2-Tone - hmmmm, there's a thought. In fact the idea of Debbie Harry and Pauline Black on stage together would probably cause me to fade away permanently!
lots of love whatever that is electro chemical ? CAN robots love with no chemicals/ /// they wiill find a way to get chemica;lls then we are fucked they wiiill kiiil us unless they love us
Absolutely. I was just thinking the same thing. This song hits a certain nerve and has pure power. She is too damn amazing. There will never be another band like Blondie or another Debbie.
