5:06 literally saved my life from suicide I can’t explain it but this instrumental was telling me to fight through everything with everything, and I will over come my hardships, there’s no way of me explaining it, this whole song saved my life thank you Metallica for everything
Brother live, no one wants you dead specially Metallica who want you to listen. Just start meditation , walk around water don't live according to what you feel , I fought in Afghanistan from 2002- 2005, suicide demon sent to kill us they grew stronger every time someone did. Need to fight the cycle help stop people Brother there is more to suicide than just thoughts and feelings so you not alone in this battle. Love you God bless you and your future.

+James Concepcion They are the very best band i have ever seen live. I have seen them 13 times over the years and they have never let me down. I go to at least 20 or 30 shows a year and have seen many many bands that kick ass but aside from Zepplin getting the original lineup, (including dead) or Jimi or SRV( also coming back from beyond) No one i have seen can touch Metallica live. I have seen everyone from Korn to Kiss to System of a Down and Tool and while they are all great shows respectively, Metallica are just better at it.
Anyone who doesn't like this music just doesn't listen to the music itself. They pre-judge this band. This was the first chart done by Metallica that my son played for me and I was hooked for life. They are AWESOME musicians and no matter what anyone thinks of their lifestyle or anything else - you can't possibly deny they have T- A - L - E - N - T.

Sometimes the instrumental version just hits better. It's so well written as an instrumental piece and so beautifully played that I'd rather leave James' vocals for other songs.
I absolutely love everything about this song. The words are extremely moving, and the music is absolutely top notch from top to bottom! Not only the best Metallica song ever, but one of the best songs period. I have been listening to this song multiple times per week for like 10 years and not one bit tired of it!

I'm really happy to be able to play this song, start to finish. It's a lot of fun and with how practice makes perfect, I can entertain myself with this amazing song. Fade to Black's solo is just so powerful. That climbing progression just makes the song feel so *final*. It really should have been the last song on the album.
Such a beautiful, passional and emotive outro solo. It's amazing how a melody can make you feel the emotions that the author of the song has in mind as the emotions that represent the song.
