:3~ (oh dear there are a few run on sentences, i'm not very good at storytelling x)) well!! moose had their kits alone after fleeing their past group, but was soon discovered by two shadowclan warriors (sweetbelly and sweetbriar), who rescued moose (and co.) and adopted them. the kits (weasel, beetle, and dawn), were all healthy (initially at the expense of moose's own health) up until they were a little over a moon old, when weaselkit began rapidly growing weaker (fading kitten syndrome), to the horror of her mother. feeling helpless to stop the unknown sickness, moose set out for the moonpool, desperate enough to place their faith in starclan (where they hadn't before). moose begged the spirits for help, but they remained silent and still as a familiar cat appeared between them. moose was both shocked and dismayed to find that their mate, cooper, had died since they had last seen him. cooper was unusually resigned to his fate, but he was not content to let the stars reclaim his daughter's soul so quickly. he sacrificed a great deal of his own soul to grant weaselkit a second life, returning to the stars as a wisp of a spirit who no longer had the (strong- for some reason!) power to watch over his loved ones. in short, weasel recovered and she and her mother left shadowclan several moons later, coming back every so often to visit her sisters (dawnthistle and beetletrot, who were passed into the care of moose's adoptive family), though otherwise steering clear of the clans. weasel and moose were near inseparable for about a year, and remained close even when moose returned to shadowclan and weasel struck out on her own, sporting some fun ghost traits ( mostly cosmetic) serving as a permanent reminder that she is loved.

oh goodness, parasites are such a horrible thing to deal with, especially when they prey on defenseless young'ins... i had a couple similar experiences- first with my two new baby rats suddenly dying of anemia due to mites after seeming to be in great condition up until that day, and second with my brother's bearded dragon (i really wish they'd given him away so someone else who could afford it could give him the proper treatment he needed) died in a standing position with his eyes open, and they left him there in his enclosure for a few days, i thought he might still have been alive. i'm really sorry about your caterpillars :(💖💖💖💖
