@Nostewitsch that's because in USA, I think, there was some kind of radios that played not only the singles, but the songs from the albums, properly. That kind of radio was called Album-Oriented Radio, so the bands who used to play in these radios were called AOR (Album-Oriented Rock)

I could be mistaken but I believe this is the band that opened for Boston on their Third Stage tour when I saw them perform at The Joe in Detroit.

@rulabdn the name "Adult Oriented Rock" came later. Because adults tends more to buy albums than singles, that's because Album Oriented Rock became Adult Oriented Rock, later ^^
