I’ve been trying to set mine up for a week now. Cox customer support has been beyond unhelpful. My rental has fiber pon and that has complicated the process. Turns out last tenant took the modem with them which was supposed to be left behind (that’s what I have been told anyways). I obtained the modem I was told I needed and then called support back to walk through the process from there. I gave agent run down of what had been happening. Told her I had picked up my router from a Cox store 2 weeks prior. Told her I had also just obtained the modem and connected it per the instructions last agent had given me. I just needed help connecting router and modem. She told me I didn’t know what I was talking about and that I was not looking at the little Nokia white box modem and I could not have connected it myself because only Cox techs can do that. Told her that I had been instructed on how to connect it and I kid you not she told me, “ No, only techs can get to those boxes and connect them. Residents don’t do that. These boxes have lasers and stuff.” WTF???? Best explanation I can think of is that maybe she was drunk or something. I’ve spent hours on the phone with Cox this week and been unable to work because of this mess. Complex where I live is contracted with Cox so I have no other options for service providers. I hate this company. This is not my first bad experience with them. Their staff is incompetent and possess the communication skills and tact of a bunch of elementary school kids.

You know you can buy a Coaxial Female adapter for like 50 cents at home depot. You paid $55. Yikes. And yeah he took 45 mins because he was taking his sweet time to make you feel satisfied.

I recently activated COX internet service on 7/28. In less than a month I’m already experiencing internet problem. The rep is saying “something is wrong with the equipment delivering the fiber optic signal into your home”. We have a Netgear but it won’t work with our fiber connection. A technician will check on this but I won’t have internet for a day or two. So sad that COX dominates Las Vegas area and other cities. In our neighborhood, COX is the only one available.

I'm a new Cox customer with starter internet and tv. They mailed a self installation kit to take with me when I moved to my new house. I couldn't get it to work. It took 3 days to get someone out to set it up. When I got my first bill I noticed a $100 charge for sending out a tech. This would have been free for a new customer but they charged me anyway. When I complained about this they attempted to CANCEL my agreement by the day the tech arrived. Fortunately he caught it and reversed the cancellation. I was eventually credited the $100 on my next bill. I will be a cord cutter when my 1 year contract is up.

So to point out a few things here as I am a cable technician with a vendor for cox She did get a few things wrong but I dont know how long it took her to make this video but to let you guys know something's that will make a field technician's job alot more easy. And our rules change all the time so the time you may be reading this it may have changed yet again but the charges havent changed in the state I'm in in the past 4 months other than some cable box rental fees to make the wireless clients the same as the wired ones 1) you have an 8x4 modem based on what I saw on the video it got blurry so I vant exactly tell but that is only good for up to 150mbps. Dont trust what the box says you can pull in speeds on it cox requires 2x the channels to pull the speed due to our system isnt perfect we have issues that appear at the tap out of nowhere and I have walked up on taps that have had a circuit board fry causing issue do to an old system we are getting rid of completely. So for reference if you want to run 300 I recommend a 24x4 channel modem due to that is what we provide as 1 of 2 rentals we have we also have a 32x4 channel modem but it isnt available everywhere just yet due to fiber being there. These modems are the 3.0 pano and 3.1 pano they are $10 to rent and they are great modems even though they fail to like all other pieces of technology. 2) not all the time is a self to pro chargeable yes there is a $55 service charge if the issue is on your end. Examples are you never unboxed the modem meaning you didn't try we can change work orders to be installs so try to connect the modem at the least. Another is you line from the house box also known as a dmark a box that we put on the side of the house typically with the electrical panel to the outlet are your responsibility so if that line is inactive dependent on the tech he could charge for that. Now for examples that could wave service fees if you line that goes from our service tap to the house is bad now I dont recomend cutting it to get the install for free it can have up to 87 volts of power running threw it and we can tell it it was recently cut or if it was cut awhile ago due to the internal condition of the line. Another is our service tap has issues that are service affecting... our system isnt perfect and as I said before taps typically have issues it's just a matter of if yours is or if it isnt. The tech should always check with his meter at the tap and the equipment at the least. Or if the previsioning had issues can warrant a non charge call because some boxes dont take the previsioning and we have to force it threw. 3) the modem/router combo you got is a cheaper one but it works fairly well I have installed hundreds and I have ran into 2 to 10 of them being bad out of close to 500 to a 1000. Again it is a 8x4 so it wont be able to take speeds around 300 even though on paper you can but we require 2x what's needed for the higher end eq it's about $200 to get the better items like the netgear nighthawk which I recomend to every one who ask me about routers it's about 150 but it works very well and it is great for gaming and streaming. 4) make sure you have coax lines before even trying to do a self to pro because it could change the charge and it could add alot more work on the tech and change it from 45 min to up to 2 to 3 hrs depending on what they have to do. It also isnt guaranteed we can get the job done that day sometimes the underground conduits break causing a cut in the underground lines or the pole is unsafe we have to worry about our safety and do our checks right to verify what we will do to get it up and running. 5) we can change the wifi name and password for you and if we are coming out already we are more than willing to find the outlets tou want it to be at now keep in mind if we run attic lines it's an extra $55 for them. Attic passes are different it's how it enters the house wleither in a wall or from exterior or threw internal walls.

Hey man quick question I was thinking about doing the self build of the cox cause I really don't want to pay 75 dollars for a guy to come and do it not knowing if it was that easy would you recommend that I try it out also what would a few good pointers be because it's not the first time we order internet it's just this is the 3rd person to order with different credentials b/c the other 2 times were cancelled

@@damagedghost9766 as long as you have had cox previously yes you can and the main thing to watch for is if direct or some other cable provider that uses coax has been there before. And what pointers exactly are you asking for?

@@nathanpearson6762 I want to save money and time. How can I do this myself? I have my own equipment such as the modem and router, my parent's have been with Cox for over 9 years. Right now, we are not receiving any signals of internet or wifi connection to our devices, they were working fine yesterday but now, not as much. Is it because my coxial cables have gone bad and I need a new one or should replace the coaxial outlet. I'm not to sure what's going on, but anything helps. Thank you.

The very best there is is not as good as the cox panoramic modem, this panoramic I have is totally on fire. I've had some good ones but the panoramic modem is the best i've ever had, it's something that I don't mind paying rent on but the choices is yours. It's-------------------------- that fast.

This is dial up type of set up with a router that makes a wireless. 2million percent will not recommend if your don’t have a house phone

Something doesn't seem right about your connector problem. First it looks like you have the Cox supplied coax connected to the wall and you can't connect the other end to the modem/router. It's clearly a female connector on both ends and the modem is male and the wall is male. You shouldn't need barrel for that. Second, you were smart enough to buy your own modem but you couldn't go get a simple barrel connector and save yourself $55 for the installation fee?
@whistleout

It was a series of unfortunate events! Thanks for watching and showing concern, I appreciate it. If you want my explanation of your questions, I wrote one out below. I hope you come back and continue supporting the channel! There were a few cables in my house. One was a female cable (the one you saw that I struggled to connect but eventually did) that wasn't the active line of internet - I found out later it was just an extra cable in the house not connected to anything. The active line of internet was a male connection. My coaxial cable is ALSO male. When the technician came he had to break out a tool kit with some barrels to connect the two male ends. And I could have been better prepared. But I didn't realize there were multiple cable connections in my house until the technician showed up or else I would have bought myself a barrel.

With all due respect dear, this video is NOT instructions on how to set up Cox internet, rather your own experience. Seriously, you should re-title this video. It's not what you claim it is.
