Drop down to 65-68, and your range will increase significantly. As a long haul truck driver I can tell you that boat's drag at 77 mph is massive. Drag is the product of the square of velocity, slowing down just a little has a big impact on range. Also, avoid the brake (accelerate more gradually, leave more space).

Please mention that "Time is Money"! This applies to all EV's. All the time spent having to map out your trip, locating adequate charging stations, having to drive out of your way to get to the charging stations and then back to your trip, having to adjust speeds to maximize distance and finally, the down time you have while the vehicle charges. Add up the cost of your time and lost productivity to the cost of the electricity used and you'll find that conventional gas or diesel vehicles are cheaper to operate. Before I retired I had a large territory of properties I managed and my truck was my office. I had a full size pickup because in addition to my management responsibilities I also had the need to pick up and carry supplies to the properties as well as pulling trailers. Most days i covered about 300 miles, but some weeks I might cover 500+ miles per day. If I had to charge that truck I would've lost so much productivity and my staff wouldn't have the supplies needed to do their jobs. So the only EV I'm interested in is a golf cart to drive around my neighborhood.

I have a few times, though I try to limit my max daily to 1000 miles when on a trip. I used to live near Killeen, Texas, and would drive to Los Angeles, California, every other holiday to see my parents. That's a little over 1300 miles. I also made a few trips from Texas to Miami, Florida, to visit my wife's family every other holiday. That's also a little over 1300 miles. I hate it when EV owners flippantly say that "nobody takes long trips" or that "nobody tows anything with their truck" when there are thousands of ICE vehicles on the road doing this every day.
@christophernowak6579

@@AndyLeeVlogs the key card is a backup key if you’re letting someone else drive or your cell battery dies. Normally the owner won’t use anything besides their phone since your phone in your pocket acts as key, same as your Kia but without the fob. They also sell a fob as well for those without a cell phone that work as keyless entry/start unlike the card.

@@Fake_Notviperfn. Like any electronic devices, you should NEVER charge it while using it at 110%. That's simple I.T. 101. First time I charged my Tesla with the CCS adapter, I realized I needed to pull the handle out with the adapter or else the same thing happens. Simply don’t press the button that releases the hook. Eventually that won’t be a problem, since the Tesla NACS style plug is becoming the standard anyway. I believe your truck said not charging when you left it at night (I noticed it in the video). You can also check from your phone. Agree on the cable lengths of the Superchargers. V4 Tesla chargers that are coming out have longer cables. Last, if you go into charging on your Tesla’s screen, you can see what the last Supercharger session cost. It also changes in real time as the vehicle charges. You can also go into your account on the app to see the actual charges (you’ll also get a daily email with a receipt), not the charging summary screen. That has all your charging for the last month or year including your charging at home based on your KW charges that you put in. Probably includes the charging at the dealer / store. The card needs to be placed on the phone charger to activate the vehicle, or at the door pillar to open it. Tesla has great new user videos. I watched them at least once when I bought mine last year. After a year of use, 18,000 miles later, I love the tech and how it all works and integrates. When I drive my ICE vehicles, I am frustrated by how dumb they are and the need for a physical key. Agree on the towing though, seems like the only EV that tows somewhat reasonably is the Chevrolet Silverado EV. However, without towing, I like the Cybertruck better.

It's hilarious that people argue about how much money they save on gas or how much time they're saving by not having to go to the gas station. But then they do shit like this where they spend hours waiting for the thing to charge. There's this Supercharger location at my local mall in CT and every single weekend I drive by there, without fail there will be at least 1 Tesla driver sitting in his car, waiting for his POS to charge. What a wonderful way to spend the weekend!

Lol if we wait it's by choice , most of us goto whatever facility it's near , every SC is near something where you can buy some food and washrooms. Also, a tesla leaves home fully charged . Unfortunately I can't say that about my gas vehicles. Is the wait too long charging , yes ! Too bad we are after 30+ years on a anti China streak. Australia the best selling cars are Warren buffet owned BYD from China and other EV from there . They have faster charging cars, sodium batteries depending on mfg , and even a company that has stations that swap your battery with a full battery in 5 minutes flat. Instead of doing to the Chinese and learing from them amd adopting thier stuff, as they did, when we were all supposedly smarter than them , we're like the spurned lover who decides, we don't rall to them . We could all have a better built , cheaper , faster charge or system to be 100, if our government wasn't so busy making the country they sucked up to starting with president Nixon , ending with trump & biden. Instead we are busy handing a south African proven liar the keys to our future.

I sold my 8 year old Tesla Model S 90 D due to the battery warranty expiring and grabbed a 2023 Jayco Terrain Sprinter Campervan (Diesel). People who know me were shocked because I was always a big EV fan boy. When my kids got into motocross, we went all electric until I realized gas is way faster (for 50cc at least). Although I'm now diesel with the van, I can tow no problem and my mileage is pretty close to my friend's Toyota 4Runner SUV. I also have 10 kwh of battery which is bigger than the battery in my Mitsubishi plug in hybrid and I'm able to charge the van house battery really fast (often way over 30 amps) with the 2nd alternator while driving. I was on the waiting list up here in Canada for the Cybertruck but I'm glad it's simply not a truck that you could use effectively for something like motocross. I was worried my Van would be outdated really quickly, but I think it will take another 10 to 15 years before EV tech really advances to the capabilities of today's best ICE trucks.

18:20 up here in Muskoka, what a lot of the Toronto people do is instead of hauling their boat up every weekend, they will rent a spot in a local storage yard, park the boat there when they are done for the weekend, then haul it home at the end of the season. The issue is you are limited to only boating up here BUT with 10,000 lakes, you never run out of options. Sure you incur the storage fees per month, but the whole month ends up costing the diff in gas bringing it up and back home in 1 weekend.

The purpose of buying an electric vehicle is to charge it overnight in your garage. Many people I know only drive themselves to work and back and nothing more. If you drive enough to use up the entire battery pack in one day, electric cars are not for your use case. You will pay MORE at a supercharger per mile than at a gas station with a gas vehicle.

Think of it as not a range issue, but a cost issue. You towed 63 miles and it cost you $50. With a diesel, fuel is what? $4 a gallon max in NH? Figure 15 mpg. Maybe 5 gallons, overestimating. So $20 for a diesel tow and $50 for electric. So how's an EV cheaper than diesel or gas?

Towing is definitely going to impact range, but speed’s going to be the killer for long distances. Like someone else said, set your charge % limit to 100% either on the screen or thru the app next time and you won’t cap at 80%, and you’ll avoid the idle fees. Same thing as the other person said, there’s a spot you stick the keycard for the car to read that it’s there and function. See if you can find someone with a 3D printer to get yourself some center caps. I’m down the road in MA, probly print some for you if you don’t know anyone.

The Cuber truck is not the most aerodynamically efficient vehicle. Couple that to a towed boat that also has poor aerodynamic efficiency and then drive at 80 miles an hour and you are using a lot of energy to push air aside. If you are getting 1/3rd the range at 80mph you will get 2/3rds the range at 56mph. It’s simple maths; the energy being used is proportional to the square of the speed, 80 squared is 6400. To double the range you need to reduce the energy consumption by half. Half of 6400 = 3200 and the square root of 3200 is just over 56. I would bet that the Cummings ,without a trailer, has gas milage of about 24 mpg at 55mph. When towing the heavy boat at 80mph it will be lucky to achieve 8mpg. Towing is equally destructive of gas milage and battery range.

@@Bryan-Hensley Well, sure. The Cybertruck's battery doesn't have nearly as much power stored as say, a 25 gallon gas tank. On the other hand, considering that a gallon of gas has the equivalent of 33.7 KwH of electricity (115,000 BTUs), that means that the Cybertruck is working with about a 4 gallon gas tank. I think it's doing a lot with those 4 gallons worth of power. Battery tech has to get better - let's talk again in 10 years. In the meantime, there's millions of people that drive big trucks that don't ask them to pull big campers - the CT has a market even now.
