Don't forget cartilage can regenerate, so avoid surgery as much as you can until the last resort.

How do you determine the femur is anterior and needs to be set into knee extension? Is this the norm for meniscus problems (say, if a knee is lacking hyperextension)?

Is viscosupplementation effective for knee arthritis and opening up that joint space?

Thick of it like WD-40. You're injecting a lubricant but it's not going to fix the problem. Depends on how severe the damage is, conservative care (physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, stretch, ice, exercise, Vit C, collagen, PRP, etc) may help as long as there's enough cartilage left. But if it's completely destroyed, only solution is knee replacement surgery.
