FAILED RETURNS | WWE's Worst Comebacks
Everybody loves a good return in wrestling. After all, from a fan’s perspective, they get to miss someone for a while, allowing their interest to build back up again until the moment where the big comeback pop happens. And from the point of view of a wrestler, they get to take a break and return with a fresh coat of paint, feeling revitalised and new all over again in the process. At least, that’s the way it’s supposed to happen because, despite there being plenty of cases of great returns over the years, there have been just as many which didn’t quite work out quite so well. But which returns where the worst of all? Well, join us today as we. Take a deep dive into some of the biggest blunders of them all in Failed Returns: WWE’s Worst Comebacks.

@Mr.Septon
@Mr.Septon Год назад
Agreed. I would gladly take a Mr. Perfect at 70% over most others at full capacity. Just look at the match between Perfect and Hart where Mr. Perfect put Bret over. He was already in so much pain and his back was so ruined, but it is still considered one of the best matches. So I mean, the guy in awful shape could honestly put on matches that most wrestlers never get a chance to put forth.
@TheHappynot
@TheHappynot Год назад
its a shame he passed when he did. Had he gotten clean he could have been a main player on Raw or Smackdown. He was way over when he came back as Mr. Perfect and a lot of guys were leaving, so they defiantly could have used Henning. He was in his mid 40, but that never stopped Taker, HBK or HHH.

@MeteorTesh
@MeteorTesh Год назад
In my opinion (which counts for Jack), a lot of these wrestlers may have found better reactions and maybe success if they had come back in more manager roles. Brett easily could have come back as one and his new gimmick would be teaching a younger talent in ring technical work. Shawn Michaels could have had an angle where he mentors some one in mic skills. Even Animal.could.have come back as the manager of a new younger tag team. this would give nostalgia oops without disappointment and they could even occasionally get physical without having to do too much. Like a bit of heel distraction and so on.

Matt Hardy was never seen as a draw in WWE and his singles career will always pale in comparison to Jeff's. As a big fan of HBK, I truly believed that he would be one of the few guys who would actually stay retired after going out like a true legend at Wrestlemania 26 against The Undertaker and I would always hear stories that he would be approached to come back for one more match but he would always say no to the offer. I was shocked when he finally agreed to work one more match, his 2018 return at Crown Jewel was a complete train wreck, DX Vs the Brothers Of Destruction should have happened years ago, maybe 1997-1998 or anytime during the ruthless aggression era. To see everyone much slower and older was sad even though Shawn Michaels performed the best out of all them which wasn't bad considering he hadn't wrestled in 8 years but it was still disappointing to watch. I guess the old adage is no one ever truly stays retired in wrestling.

It didn’t need to be a match, it should’ve been a mid show angle. Have Bret in the ring cutting a brief promo where he talks about how he never thought he’d be back in the ring at WrestleMania. Vince and some heel cronies corner Bret, and Vince brings a referee so he can take a cheap win after the heels beat Hart down. Whole Hart family comes out, clears the heels, and then beats the crap out of McMahon. Bret tells the ref to ring the bell, slaps on the Sharpshooter, and Vince submits. You could’ve had an 8-10 minute segment at a dead spot in the show to draw a pop, and it would’ve been better than the match, IMO.

Awesome video but I disagree with one of the things you said about Warrior's mid-90s return. You mentioned interest in him had died down and the kids that liked him had moved on to HBK and Bret. I watched all of it in real time and have every RAW recorded on VHS from that era. The interest in Warrior had absolutely NOT died down. The dude was getting some of the craziest pops and reactions out of anyone on the roster. The interest was 100% there. I think what destroyed this return was not the interest, but a combination of being put in crappy angles and Hellwig's behind-the-scenes issues with WWE and not being the most professional person to do business with, which you did mention.

5:49 Wow my childhood idol looks absolutely ENORMOUS there, even by Warrior standards. (And those looks, of course, is why McMahon was seemingly endlessly willing to forgive him anything.) People who are on steroids--except for active competitive bodybuilders--often have a wide variety of size appearances back and forth over the course of time. I always thought it was kind of funny--though of course it makes perfect sense given the circumstances--that Warrior got popped for steroids when he was close to his smallest.

18 minutes of solid proof that Vince was both clean out of ideas , and clean out of respect/compassion for the men who made him rich, even his pet chihuahua HBK wasn’t spared the humiliation of Vince’s “comeback run” ideas. I think he just wanted to humiliate the legends to get his young guys over. So sad to see guys like bulldog, animal, warrior, roddy make fools of themselves, Vince should’ve let them leave with dignity and be remembered as legends instead of embarrassment. I’m surprised the biggest come back fail of all wasn’t shown….hulkamania must be immune to criticism.

The Saudis shell out an exorbitant amount of money to set dream matches that may, but most likely won't make any sense. (Not hating. If you had that kind of money, you'd do it too.)
