You know, I bet on the other side of those windows, is a fascinated pair of young eyes watching, thinking "I want to do that when I grow up!" Keep up the good work and as always thanks for taking time to record and post these!
@ngtflyer Likely watching, not likely wishing/dreaming and if they are, their parents will fix that quick. I’ve been in the remodeling trades for 40 years. Only 2 customers have asked me to teach their kids something. Almost all the rest have prevented me from passing on my knowledge. Clearly, Chris stays busy and likely makes a good living and enjoys his work. Too bad there are few to follow in his footsteps.
When i built my home most of the trades I hired let my 4yr old son help to a degree, he got to run the boom delivering the drywall, skid steer back filling and a mini ex digging in the services. I new the trades to a degree being in them my self. I’m nudging all my children towards the trades we don’t need any more desk jockeys but there’s huge shortages of skilled trades in my area.
@@turbolab2376 Yeah, like we really need more accountants and people who have no idea how to fix anything. I may not be rich or handsome... but i can fix just about anything LOL !
I can’t remember the name of the apartments he is close to I’ve lived in garner my hole life 29 years and I will be damn if I can’t place where that is it’s looks familiar
@@T_Hoog damn I’ve should have known that thanks for looking into it lol 😆 it’s been on my mind ever since I was thinking it was nearby Durham but I was like naw that’s even to nice for that area lmao 😆
I really enjoy watching you operate. So smooth, efficient, and deliberate. Every video has some new "well that movement makes total sense" moment. Thanks for sharing!
I like how Chris keeps his channel free and clear of politics. I’ve gotten off Facebook, instagram, and Reddit cause of it. I come to his channel to decompress and watch the doctor operate with the scalpel. Big thanks👊🏻
Now that's the kind of job you can look back at the end of the day and say, "Yeah, I did that, it's been a good day!" Don't we all wish we had jobs like that with measurable progress everyday? Nice video!
I can wholeheartedly agree with this! About 20 years ago I worked in manufacturing where I built huge controls for industrial machines. There was a certain satisfaction when I looked back at a finished job that took weeks to complete. Now I work in an office with an endless line of "paper".. it never seems to end and I don't get the same satisfaction at a finished job like I did then... I would love to do something like this!
Never underestimate the power of "the vine". Tough stuff for sure and that 229 has a pretty strong swing. I love it how you use other tree trunks to break up the tree you are removing. Heck man even if you didn't do anything else just clearing off the dam makes it look 100% better...
REALLY wish you had playlists because I just found you and find your projects interesting. Had trouble finding the end to a segment. Your explanations are easy to follow. Especially extracting sunk excavators. You evaluate the site and plan of attack, always leaving yourself a safe retreat. Excellent segments.
That green paint on the manhole cover reminds me of an old grade guy I had on my paving crew. I'd send him out ahead the the crew to dig out additions or whatever prep needed. We always use orange marking paint, but he's colorblind and couldn't see the orange paint on the green grass but green on green shined like a silver dollar for him. Half the time I couldn't see the green on green so I'd mark it out in orange and over lap in green.
As a general contractor for 22 years , I appreciate your strategy. It makes or breaks a guy .And when the plan comes together it’s very satisfying . Thanks for your prospective . Edit ; for a lot of ya , very move Chis makes is money , time is money. Not only money , but integrate , if as it was his .
Eleagnus is the plant that is planted that create the wall on the dam. At least it was planted where its size made sense. Some developers plant them in small residential settings as foundation plants.
I don't know why your videos are so relaxing to watch but youtube recommended your video to me. I didn't search for it and they was right that I would enjoy it .
I used to work in building maintenance; the management rather you band-aid things together rather then spend the money to replace it. The residence will have nice picnic area when you are done Chris. If I lived there would have brought you lunch everyday for getting rid of the eyesore.
I’m sure you all watch it because it’s really satisfying but I love the fact of how skilled this guy is, I went back and his oldest videos is years ago, he’s definitely been doing this for awhile and you can tell because of how smooth the excavator is being operated. Or when you use the other tree to break the branch into a smaller piece, good work and love the vids!
its amazing to watch this professional do his work an do it slow an steady he makes every move count ha ha I think he could sweep floors with this bucket
I enjoy seeing the different drink cups that are always in the holder. Probably the first thing he looks at when buying equipment, the size of the cup holder
I find it funny that if you turn on CC, it thinks that the engine hum and crunching trees are music. It literally says "music" when there are no other sounds no talking, No tracks moving etc lol
Your videos bring me back to my younger days. I miss operating heavy equipment. I liked going to work everyday. I imagine if you did it for many years it would get monotonous but I enjoyed it very much. Love the videos.
Dude, you make that look so easy! Back when I was in my teens my dad, brother and I cleared a path through our woods to put in fencing for our cattle. We had a chainsaw, a hand saw, and a tractor and tow chains. What you did here in less than 15 minutes clearing away those trees and brush would have taken us a half a day at least! Ahhh, having the right equipment and tools is the name of the game! Thanks for the video, please post more!
There is a 16 hectare lake in my home town that is illegal to fish in now. The city went and made it a bird sanctuary so fishing is no longer allowed. :/ Lost themselves all the fees they used to get from people fishing in it.
It is so cool to see the landscape open before your eyes with a awesome machine like that. I bet the people watching are saying yeah he knows what he is doing. lol
Yeah watching him fold trees effortlessly is super cool. I'm jealous, the biggest excavator I ever got to run was a mini and I just dug a utility trench with it. Would love to get my hands on a machine like that and just get to tear stuff up.
Continually amazed by the similar vegetation (With the exception of Chris's favorite snakes) we have from NC to the far north....bloody vines must have been introduced by some well meaning Gardeners!
The power of your machines is very impressive!!! Trying to clear that out by hard would take hours. Work smarter, not harder. Once again, you do a killer job.
I manage three ponds at work. Our biggest one has sprung at least two leaks. It definitely needs fixed but I'm feeling way over my head. Watching you videos makes me wish I had some clue what I was doing.
Long time viewer of your channel, Agreed... Overall fix will be much nicer in the longrun, If there were good sized fish in there, my question is (who did they get to empty or ) where did they offload for storage etc, and if they will return the stock later etc.
I was born and live in Michigan, just a couple miles from Lake Huron. It's always annoyed me when people call ponds lakes. Lived in Oklahoma for a few months 20 years ago and they called their reservoirs lakes. I had to chuckle about it, lol.
I question being an engineer when I watch these videos. This work looks so much more fulfilling. I'm sure it doesn't showcase the sucky aspects but still, at the end if the day, you have a lot to show for your work.
Got to love it if it wasn't for poor construction of dams and overflows you wouldn't be having as much fun as you are so keep on fixing other people's mess-ups or neglect lol :-) :-) no matter what is still better than McDonald's for a career
Great job Chris....do you want to get the mud out now....or later. Also, Thank you for fixing the other dam that you worked on twice after the heavy rains we got in the Triangle.
@@cathiwim you are correct! It would've been awesome though! Those vines were nasty! We have what's called Air Potato vines here in Florida. Very invasive. Very similar to Kudzu. But, we have an Air Potato Beetle that eats the leaves! They look like red ladybugs! They do a number on the the vines.
You need one of those tree shakers, to pick the fruit, however the fruit for you is the soil from the roots. Perhaps an attachment would work, that way it would be hilarious to watch. Keep up the DAM good work
I've been working for the IUOE local 181 for 17 years so I can say that I've seen some of the best operator's in the mid West. Idk what part of the country you're from but I can honestly say I'd love to see more guys like you on the job. These kids jus coming in these days are too scared to learn an too scared to leave the house before the sun comes up.
