Right on. Once they start rattling everyone is on the same page. It's when you step on one or put a hand on one climbing over stuff that things start getting deadly. I guess sitting on one wouldn't be a picnic either!
The Truckee can be a difficult river to fish. It's hard to manuever over the rocky terrain and get through the bushes at times, but for me the worst part are the slippery rocks in the river. I have slipped and fell a number of times sustaining some abrasions to my lower legs. Need to invest in some felt soled wading boots. Also need to be on the river before sun up to get in on the bite window, at least in the summer.
Felt sole boots are a game changer, they can get plugged up with slime but still pretty grippy compared to not having them. That particular stretch of river looked a little overgrown, but compared to western Oregon rivers, not so much, it's pretty much drift boat only.
I do way more hiking than wading. The only reason I was in the water is because that brush has grown crazy thick along the bank. It's unrecognizable compared to the last time I was there. I hope they get out there and clear some of it.
Shake shake shake shake shake shake shake your booty LOL - wet boot - lost two fish - rattlesnake encounter - you are a trooper - lets go Amani - nice area to spend a morning even if it was not a perfect fishing adventure🎣👊👍
All failure was on me! I didn't have my head in the game on that first one and then I lost focus on the second fish I lost. Just takes a split second and then they have you!
Hello Amani...I'm still enjoying your videos! Until I can get back to NorCal your videos are filling the need to get back out there. I have been thinking very seriously of making a month or 6 week fishing trek down 395 from Bridgeport to past Bishop. I intend to go back over a lot of your past videos to see where I am most interested to spend some serious time. If you have a couple places in mind I gotta try please let me know! Thanks for the inspiration!
You can pretty much see where I go and what it's like on my playlists. You just need to decide how far you want to drive and hike! You can do a lot in a month to 6 weeks. Personally, I love the area East of Yosemite off of the 120. There is so much stuff to do around there.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 that up on top of 120 is a gorgeous area. Tuolumne Meadows I always thought was so pretty. I know about a few of those places like Saddlebag Lake. Although I never fished in that area the 120 junction is as far south as I have been on 395. I just need to go try out some of those places between there and Bishop or even Big Pine. Age wise I don't think I am up to any really difficult hiking but I always loved packing in so I will give it a try on some easier spots first and see how it goes. Thanks for all those videos amigo.
Failure and success? I woke up and viewed this video thinking about how you are so fortunate to enjoy the fishing and beauty as a weekly excursion. Hope these videos never stop, minus rattlesnake encounters.
Right on. I enjoy fishing as my only excursion. It's pretty much what I do when I'm not working for right now. My viewers know what I'm up to every week!
Yeah, I was kind of tired and cold early on. Those long breaks in any hits often lulls me to sleep often and has me getting caught off guard at times when I get a good shot at something big..
Hello sir! Im a local in sparks and have been getting out more to the truckee, what black jig do you use on your rod? Ive had some luck with spoons on some rainbows but would like to expand my arsenal! Thank you for your time. 🤙🏽 stay well neighbor.
Right on. I have a clip on my fishing tips playlist where I go over the types of marabou jigs I have had success with since I started using them a few years back.
The lake is really full. I they might be trying to get the level down before next year. I want the lake level to go down enough so that I have sand to lay on when I'm fishing emerald bay when it get's colder!
I use my long net handle or toss a rock in ahead of me. Depends on the situation. As far as having to deal rattlers along a river, the Truckee is nothing compared to some of the remote canyons I used to fish! Especially some way out east of Fresno where you had to climb in and out of canyons where you could. I would carry a crown royal bag full of small stones so when I was climbing up rock falls I could throw some of those stones on the ledges above me where I couldn't see so I could alert a snake before I put my hand on it! Once I heard the rattling, it was time to alter my route out of there!
