The Heart is a Monster blows me away every time. It's so rare that a band can be gone this long and come back and put out something this great.

You can tell Ken likes Greg a lot from this video. That's awesome.

Fantastic Planet sounded like a great band looking for a home. The Heart is a Monster sounds like it found one. Great album!

Interesting comments about Steve Albini. I was really shocked when I first found out he produced Comfort, but it makes sense in terms of how the record actually sounds. Definitely not the kind of guy you want if your band's sound leans more towards expansive, experimental space rock, but regardless that's cool that they worked with him and despite it not working out the way they wanted that Failure still has respect for Albini.

Nice to hear from the guys, but it would've been nice if they didn't do the interview in a parking garage.

... He was referring to 'Getting high' to Pink Floyd like most people do when they listen to 'Dark Side Of The Moon' :)

Niaurus myself, I assumed he was talking about H. I’m in recovery from a debilitating four year addiction to IV opiates, I think it may have been Boroughs who wrote that a user can always spot another user. Something about “the look of borrowed skin”. I’m still bloated from outpatient Methadone treatment, wondering what I’ll look like some years from now when it’s all said and done. I never knew for sure, as he seems a private man, I’ve even had the pleasure of meeting Greg, along with Eugene, Carla is understandably guarded but she still signed my LP. But as I was chatting briefly with Eugene, Greg had yet to resurface from backstage, or the back of the little venue and I wanted all three autographs respectively. Eugene, being the beyond awesome guy he is, went to round him up. Took about five minutes, and Greg resurfaced. He was extremely gracious, and generous with his time, fuck, I wore their shirt to the show I was obviously a fucking Super-fan. But even back then, when I was still mostly having trouble with the bottle and dabbling with opiates only in pill form, he had a familiar glaze in his eyes. Pinned pupils, voice was a little deeper. Now in retrospect, having lived through a hard core needle habit, all of those traits have a strange familiarity to them. Then you take his lyrical content, “I change my head so my friends don’t call me. So I don’t get bored”, “look out the door, roll down the hillside, these views are all you can afford”. Now, saying things like this, dangerous territory, and the last thing I wish to do is be presumptuous, especially with someone I have so much respect for, and with him saying what he says about accountability for the things you say online, but when it boils down, it’s me being just that. Presumptuous. I’m more than likely just projecting, hearing what I think I need to hear in those songs. But take what I’ve said as just another asshole, nothing at stake. A RU-vid comment. At the very worst I’m just grasping at straws to find a common ground with an icon of mine, and to validate all of those emotional connections I’ve made with his lyrics.

You are optimistic. He needs to man up. Being awkward in social situations would be a gimmick for him to seem eccentric as he chose a position center stage of the public eye. I respect your view and have simply stated mine. I do enjoy hearing a difference of opinion and who really knows anyway? They have interesting music none the less.
