Yes, Larry Phillips was the man at the Fairgrounds Speedway! Too bad the fair board had the track destroyed for more parking! I was there on Friday nights for years to witness some of the best racing around. It's all a memory!

So cool to see Moyer here. Not a doubt in my mind him and Bloomer both would have been all time greats on pavement as well, considering how well they both did in their limited starts.

What about Larry Phillips there...one of the best ever on small track around here I was 12 then and use to hang out with him and Terry my dad new Larry man he was FAST .....RIP

Bloomquist ran a limited arca schedule a couple times but just couldn't gain momentum and wasn't finishing very well. I'm glad he stuck with dirt personally.

@@douglasreeder2831 Scott ran 3 Arca races in '91. Two on pavement, Michigan and Atlanta. At Michigan he qualified 15th and was running in the top 5 when the engine blew up. At Atlanta the RR tire chunked out and he spun and hit the wall. He also ran 2 All Pro races (the top pavement lm series in the US) finished in the top 5 at both. He finished 2nd at 411 and was all over the leader at the checkered. Won several LM stock car races, the biggest one being a NASCAR sanctioned 100 lapper in Virginia where all the top guys in the Southeast were there. He tried to race in the Busch Series in '94-95' ish, but Mike Helton called him and told because of all the controversy surrounding him because of his arrest they weren't going to let him race. Scott would have been as good on pavement as he was on dirt, as he proved in limited starts against the top pavement lm drivers in the US.

@@ericthomas9788Definite shout out to the immortal legend Larry Phillips. I was just pointing out Bloomer and Moyer because most fans, even dirt fans don't realize how well they did in their limited pavement racing. Larry's record on pavement is etched in stone with his 5 NASCAR national championships. Even with those accomplishments Larry doesn't get the recognition he deserves. It seems Dick Trickle (who I respect immensely) is widely regarded as the greatest short track racer ever. Trickle didn't run much on dirt though. Whereas Larry Phillips is a dirt late model hofer'. Larry was a dirt guy that came over to pavement racing and dominated.
