Red coat, for muzzle loader hunting? Should it not be blue? Americans were blue, british red? South grey/brown and north blue, again? What am I missing
3rKo I don’t know if I understand your comment. Are you referring to the Revolutionary War or the Civil War? Or both? And during the American Revolution, the Continental Army wore blue, but the local militias each had their own colors. While the British were always recognizable in red, the colonies were a hodgepodge. That’s why the red coat joke works because everyone knows the term “red coat.” It wasn’t a joke about which side he would take in the American Revolution.
The Red coat joke has nothing to do with any war. In Wisconsin, All the Hunters use to wearRed/Fannel wool coats because that was the rule. However many hunters were accidentally injured/ shot due to the red color blended with the fall colors. So in the 70's or early 80's the rule was changed to wear blaze orange over 50% of the body. So the red coat joke was referring back to the old school style of deer hunting Because the muzzle loader hunt is the old school or traditional hunt of the old timers.. ( at least that's how I understood it. )
As someone who lives on the east coast and who has never been to Wisconsin, I feel like I'm watching something on PBS here. You know, cultural stuff. About the indigenous peoples of the Midwest, their customs, and their language.
As an individual living on the east coast as well, I understand the language. Always thought my dad was making up words to be funny, but in the Midwest that's their words.
Ive been to Wisconsin several times fond du lac to be exact and it is beautiful up there.. sometimes I miss being up there..the great thing about Wisconsin is it seems like a southern state
wavestep daydream was referring to Wisconsin Dells - a tourist destination town In Wisconsin with Noah’s Ark Water Park and lots of other man made and natural tourist attractions. I live in Wisconsin and hope to see Charlie live in December here in the state. While you’re in Ireland, check out the RU-vid channel and Dublin Vicar Street Theatre live shows of the great comedy trio Foil Arms & Hog. Great to know da manitowoc minute has its well deserved international audience! 😁
In Pennsylvania it is. Schools are closed. Well they’re all closed now. Our shop manager was from Cleveland and couldn’t understand how there was not going to be enough employees to make it worth turning on the lights the first week. We all just shrugged and looked at each other.
@@lemon-iu7bo In Potter county “God’s Country “ and some other counties south and east of that are pretty wild. White tail and black bear. We have a limited elk season now too. But in Erie county the upper most NE county and neighboring counties we have many farms and white tails can get pretty big. There is one on display at the Pymatuning Reservoir Observation Center that was 300lbs. Which is big for a white tail. At least here. I was a teen working at the Fairview Evergreen Nursery when game protector Russ Myers brought it in to weight on our scale. 301 pounds so just over not a rounded up thing. And if you look at the knees on the front legs they’re bald. I said why’s that. Russ said he’s too fat too jump so he was crawling under fences. Ah corn fed wild life.
I never did figure out (or really care) who it was, but someone in the general vicinity of where I used to live hunted with a select fire rifle. I'd hear a shot, followed by a couple shots followed by whatever was left in the magazine. Happened maybe once a year during gun season. It was a pretty remote place.
@@TheSpongiform sounds like the inbreds or city people hunting in Adams county. Every year I constantly hear those morons rattle off 5-10 shots and every shot is a miss.
"For bow hunting we have a camo coat" "For gun hunting we have an orange coat" "For muzzleloader we have a redcoat" As a history buff and a part time assistant at a museum, This had me absolutly dying XD Edit: That last part with Charlie talking tactics but instead of hunting it's about a bar? I am toataly the guy who draws up tactical plans based on the wind, everybody's marksmanship capabilities, type of gun, and the deer patterns. Don't know why, but I do.
i’m not allowed to call my father under after sundown starting this weekend and even then i don’t expect a response 😂 he takes an entire month off to hunt and i have to get text checks to make sure he’s alive. if my brother isn’t up by 3:30, he’s left behind 💀
I grew up on land which was a hunting hub. I’d wake up for school with 10 dudes drinking coffee in my kitchen. I don’t hunt but I can definitely tell you I’ve seen a many’ o fam hit that snooze well past dawn. And then make excuses like it was planned. “Well I’ve noticed they’ve been coming down by the south end stand closer to dusk” 🙄
🎶 “We drink, play cards, and shoot the bull but never shoot no deer. The only time we leave the camp is when we go for beer. It’s the second week of deer camp, it’s the greatest time of year.”
Did you study my son Zayne to make this video? Zayne to a tee. He’d set his early alarm, might make it out. He always got a deer, late afternoon, every time.
