That cattleya from Krull Smith is so stunning! I had my first blooms from a cattleya from Krull Smith that I only ordered a month ago, I was so excited! 😍 Have a beautiful, healing day beautiful soul!! 💗
Wow those orchids are popping the dendrobiums are super cool lovely color. Thanks for sharing keep the videos coming loving them. Blessing from Jamaica
Hi Nelson 😊💕 Nice to see you. I'm always blown away by all of your blooms. It is so peaceful in your yard, I can clearly hear your hummingbirds, they sound like those in my yard. For a moment I had to mute the video as I thought they were the noiay ones I feed in my yard😅. It's such a blessing to have them visit. I feed the wild birds here everyday so after half past 3 in the afternoon they come to feed. I feed hummingbirds too. I have a very territorial iridescent green one who doesn't like to share his nectar😂. Another great video. Warm greetings from TnT 😎🌴☀️🤗💕
I think a talk is a wonderful idea. I would definitely travel to the east coast to go and listen to you speak in person. I am learning so much from watching your videos. Thank you Nelson!!
Thank you Nelson. I loved your Phal. Tetraspis and the white Dendrobium. Congratulations on your invite. You have a big selection, it's okay to forget what you already have...no harm done...lol
Hi Nelson, I’m enjoying your video thanks for sharing. I’d like to order 3 different orchids that has blooms in it. I am in South Carolina would you recommend that ship the orchids,
Thank you. I have no knowledge of shipping. Best bet is to reach out to top vendors like Krull Smith who do ship out. They can answer any questions in shipping live orchids to you.
Nelson, how great to get the invitation to speak at Mounts! Hopefully it will be at a time I can come down. I would love to see you just do highlights of your RU-vid journey. So many fun moments, surprises, and moments of wisdom.
I think people would love to come see you speak. You should def record it for the channel! I think people would enjoy just listening to you talk about the history of your family, your upbringing, and how you got into orchids and producing videos. Youre a great storyteller.
Thanks so much, Nelson, for another entertaining and informative video. Perhaps for one video, you might focus on more if the maintenance side of things? Show us how you water, your sprinkler setups, how long/often you water, fertilize, etc. Perhaps show us potting medium you use (lecca, bark, lava) and talk about challenges/successes youve encountered using them in florida? Also, since you are a photographer, ever think about creating a book of photos for all of your orchids?
I usually do how-to and maintenance videos once it gets cooler. It’s just way too hot for me to be recording while I do my feedings. I’m completely drenched in sweat and honestly that’s not a look for RU-vid. Lol! I used to do books of my photography. I have not thought of doing an orchid book. Perhaps in the future I’ll make one for sale to my viewers.
So fortunate to have a 'Pot' dealer that delivers :) Regarding Vanda Violettas: I 'Had' one after watching Blanca's / BenJong's infomercial but lost it along with ALL my Vanda's while hospitalized
Everyone needs a pot dealer for orchids. Lol! My buddy always supplies me with so many terracota pots. I’m very great full. Sorry for you loss. That’s always a hard one.
Hi Nelson, sooo many beautiful blooms and the yard is fantastic, love it. Expansion -double, I can’t wait to see it. Sorry about the spike😫. Wish I had some trees but only 3 and they are full. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise 💚💚
Would love to attend your presentation Nel.Excellent video by the way. Breaking a spike truly sucks, it happened to me once with a very special orchid but rest assured it will come back with a vengeance.
Thank you so much Alejandro. Yes that spike hurt me deeply. I would have been fine with any other Bulbophyllum’s spike breaking. But of course the one I was the most carful with is the one that breaks.
@@naturenel Super excited to see it all when you video it!!! Had to choose either Redlands or Opapka next year to visit and Redlands won! So seeing it thru your eyes will have to do for now! 😊
Hello Nelson Iam Lars from Denmark, and only started with orchids 3 month ago. I realy enjoy your videos, because you show so many blomming orchids at fairs, your garden and nurseries. I love Cattleyas and desided that I mainly will keep mini cattleyas for now, because i have very limitid space Do you have any? Love to see your mini cattleyas in bloom 😀 You are a very good speaker, like your voice, topics, humor and happy appereance 😀👍😘
Thank you so much for your amazing praise and critique. I truly appreciate it. I do have mini Cattleyas. I don’t have many because I never had too much luck with them in my environment. I do have 2 minis and they are in bloom right now. SVO in California have amazing minis. Check them out.
Good morning and good afternoon Nelson; This morning I saw half of your video, went to work and now I’m watching the other half. Your back yard is amazing and your orchids are getting huge and the blooms are beautiful. So sad to see the spike braking 😢. Well enjoy the rest of the day and see you on your next video.🧡
Very nice video! Everything looks lush and fresh. Sorry about that spike, what makes it worse is that it’s the first time it’s spiking for you. Congrats on your invitation to give a talk on orchids. I think you could speak about your orchid journey….how you started, where you are now and your aspirations. Keep going!! 🥰
Nelson! I felt it when your spike broke. 😢. But wow I’m always amazed with your beautiful space. I loved it when you paused to watch the moth and put the zen spa music. It reminded me that we all need to stop and focus on the beautiful of nature in our busy lives. ❤❤❤. I would love to attend the talk. I would love to hear about the types of orchids that in your experience grow best in our environment and what you do to care for them. 😊
That spike breaking hurt me to the deepest parts of my heart. You need to come by some day so you can see the collection. I literally did the butterfly “break” for exactly that reason. It was a way to just pause and live in that moment. I do it all the time I’m my yard. You get it!🤗 I’m excited about this talk. It’s gonna be awesome to tell my story in person and not on video. 💚💚💚
I revise my intro every new year. In January I’ll be doing a new one of events and projects of 2023. Every year is different so the intro needs to me different as well.
As always beautiful haul. Always a thrill to see what the new additions are. Can’t wait to see your new space. My Violetta has done nothing for a year. She’s my favorite but I am so disappointed. Just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work with your incredible video’s. Can’t tell you how much joy it brings me. We have to get you to 10,000 by Thanksgiving. I am on a mission. Also how is Sir Laz and Blanca, if you know. Much love.
Thanks Jode. Im happy to know my videos bring you joy. Violeta’s do that. Some of mine on trees have been there for 3 years and nothing. All of a sudden 2 of the began blooming. And my hanging Violeta wouldn’t bloom for almost a year and now it blooms throughout. Give them food. If it’s still warm by you, you may feed lightly. Vandas are 💪🏼 strong. 10K by Thanksgiving would be impossible, but by Christmas it would be the best gift ever! 🤩🤩🤩
Fall always gives us a clear/crisp sky! We were talking about this last week. My husband was wondering if it was from the decrease in humidity as well as the drop in temp.
I do believe it is the decrease in humidity. I’m not sweating like before. Every time I do a video in the summer in my garden, it’s like I jump in a pool. Now I’m dry all the way to the end of filming.
Nelson, I have a channel besotted orchids. I'd love it if you'd take a look. The orchid saga, and Rachel, from gardening at duentza also Melissa checked out my channel. I grow in my 120 yr old farmhouse in Ohio. Thanks
Nel, I was wondering if the greenhouse with the white tarp is too hot for certain plants? It rains constantly here and humidity is in the 90s too. Your greenhouse is an interesting option for my environment...
That’s a Quiktent greenhouse. It works well as long as it it not under full sun. Here in Miami it would be an oven. Under trees like I have it works perfect. I have all my Bulbophyllums and Phals in there. Also Dendrobiums and many aroids. They do very well. It does get some sun but semi shaded. I also have a tower fan in there. I use it mostly in summer.
Im always so amazed (and kinda jealous lol) that you can just spray your orchids and don't get stem rot. I am so afraid of that. My orchids are indoors and I had one get stem rot because a root kinda split the stem when it came through and im guessing moisture got in there. I was so upset. it was so pretty. I have to be very careful when watering my phals. Thank you for showing us your lovelies.
It’s pretty hot here in the souther part of Florida. Things dry up fast. Plus I keep allot in charcoal and lava rock or mounted. That keeps from root rot. I also keep orchids in my salon and have had them for years there with no casualties. They bloom every year and grow new leaves when not. I do allow a dry out period on my Phals to avoid root rot.
Help! My violetta from banjong hasn’t bloomed since I brought it home (in bloom) since January. It’s on a fox tail palm good sunlight water and fertilized but no blooms since 😢 more patience?
They can take years to bloom. But once they bloom it’s constant. I have Violetas on my trees that I’ve mounted 3 years ago. One of them finally bloomed this month.
