The funny thing is Chester is considered the next most miserable kid in Dimmsdale after Timmy. Chester has a dad that consistently gives him love and affection and attention. The only thing that makes Timmy more miserable than him is the fact that his emotionally neglectful parents leave him with Vicky so often. 😂

To just answer Erick's question, while yes, it's odd that Chester who is one step away from actually being homeless, doesn't have fairies. But it's mentioned that the main reason he has them is because of Vicky's abuse.

Chester isn't Vicky's main target or anyone's. He's just poor. He has no real problems with it and thus no problems that would warrant true unhappiness. Timmy was broken down and pushed to the point a treehouse wouldn't help. Rich parents wouldn't help. We saw a Rich kid neglected enough to get godparents earlier. Fact is what makes someone happy isn't always the same. Godparents are for those who need them.

Timmy is miserable because he gets neglected by his parents and has to deal with Vicky constantly trying to torture him.

Treehouse does not equal instant happiness. We literally saw a kid who was filthy rich with a fairy godparent because he was completely alone and nobody actually cared about him BECAUSE he was rich and anyone who was his "friend" was just using him for that, and his parents just gave him money and pissed off. He was literally happy to be stranded on an island because he could be with his parents all the time. Money doesn't make children happy, children don't HAVE MONEY anyway. It's the default. Parents have money, and sometimes they give some of it to their children. How often that happens is not a measuring stick for how happy a child is, that can actually be really bad. Usually because the child turns into a worthless little shit that expects everything and cares about nothing. Chester's poor, but he has a father who loves him, he's got lots of friends, and Vicky never babysits him. Vicky is AWFUL, even if you have a good life, she turns it to shit. Timmy's parents make good money and he wasn't miserable enough to get godparents until Vicky showed up and changed everything. Again, we literally saw this happening. Godparents are sources of unimaginable power and only the MOST miserable kids get them. It's VERY rare for a child to have them, as we see very very few of them in 3 whole seasons up to now. As for why Timmy still HAS Cosmo and Wanda, it's because while he's pretty happy most of the time now, that's BECAUSE of Cosmo and Wanda. If you take them away, he'd go right back to being miserable. Godkids don't lose their godparents until they screw up keeping them a secret, they age out and can no longer be considered god KIDS, or their lives improve WITHOUT their godparents, so they're happy in general and the godparents are no longer needed for happiness. IE they admit they don't NEED them anymore.

Timmy having Fairies while Chester doesn't , despite the latter being *almost* as miserable, makes a lot more sense when you consider that Fairies can time travel. They probably took one look at Timmy's future and realised that the poor kid was like one REALLY bad day away from becoming a damn serial killer.

Between The Nega-Chin and Nick-Or-Treat Live, Nickelodeon never considered how these things actually sound when you say them out loud.

Even though Chester by far has the worst living conditions of any main character in the show, he's always happy, grateful for what he has, and at the very least has a great relationship his father. Timmy, while a bit wealthier, has neglectful parents, and an evil babysitter, so almost 24 hours of his life is just non-stop misery.

Is it just me, or is the episode about Timmy's dad being obsessed with the car eerily similar to the plot of the movie Christine from 1983 by John Carpenter? The look and model of the car, the red color. Hell, even the ending where it ends up being crushed at a scrapyard by a car compactor? Like seeing that episode as a child, that flew over my head.

Completely unrelated but I think you guys should watch MLP:FIM, I don't know if you would like it right away but I think you should at least give it a try, it's mostly a pretty wholesome slice of life show with quite a bit of lore and some major events in the finales of the seasons.
