1972
Recorded in 1971 and released in 1972 with the subtitle Poeme Symphonique, the entire theme of the record focuses on May 1968 in France and the student riots taking place there at the time. The album consists of a sound collage of music, field recordings, news snippets, protest songs and paroles. (Wikipedia)

We need a CD release - and best with The Dragon and Hypothesis in one package ❤❤

not sure about a CD release, but an official vinyl reissue of the original Reprise issue would be greatly welcome... the original 1972 version with the gatefold sleeve and the pink insert has become extraordinarily rare in French used record shops, like the Sex Power vinyl.

Spirituelle, sensorielle et rebelle, la musique de ce compositeur reflète des impostures secrètes, explore des plaisirs sereins, un monde de rêves renaissants🌺🤗

This seems to be the abridged version of the album, sold with a newspaper in Greece in 2008. It was pretty clear that the CD was mastered from a vinyl transfer and not from a master tape. All in all, it's a funny album, a bit naive and embarrasing like most of the early Vangelis recordings (Sex Power, the Dragon, Hypothesis, Alpha-Beta). The "classic" Vangelis sound wouldnt begin until 1974 when he improved considerably his composition skills and added some synthesizers to his gear, creating his first masterpieces, like Entends-tu les chiens aboyer?, Ace-up my Sleeve or Heaven and Hell.

The song is "Athènes, ma ville" (1972), written by Vangelis, R. Dassin, and C. Lemesle. You can find it at this link of YT, sung by Melina Mercouri, released in 1974: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IhJ70aMPEik.html

Vangelis was a genius, I'm a lifelong fan of him,, I was hesitant to listen to this album and sadly my suspicions are confirmed: this is garbage.

Why you say that? This is kinda sound-documentary, not an album created out of purely artistic inspiration.

It is not garbage but you have to either listen through the radio type of moments that are indeed more of a sound documentary or skip through them to the musical parts, the musical parts have quite a bit of emotion to them.

I love this album. Full of mystery. A voyage into sound. This is Vangelis at the peak of his creativity.
