I love how Faith brought in the Clark Sisters style of singing into her music. Her "runs" were SICK!! Between her and Coko I don't know who did it better besides the Clark Sisters
Kierra Clark sang this at her wedding. That’s what brought me here. I had to go watch for Faiths version live. Kierra killed it of course. Sang her face off.
I wonder what dipshits would say something like that? Whoever would say some shit like they are either jealous, they have no taste, Faith Evans' music is not their style, or they asses were or are aspiring singers and they asses never made it.
I can't stand the recorded version. I've been playing this version for years. I fee the same way about eyrka Badue Next Lifetime done live on BET. I"m still looking for that on youtube
You can tell when an R&B soul singer (male or female) is seriously into a song when they don't open their eyes while they're singing, and or they seem oblivious to their background vocalists or the audience.
I was 9 when this came out. My cousins and I were playing outside and she went to go inside for something and she called me in and there was Faith. I literally stopped dead in my tracks and was mesmerized. I left the house all opened. lol. I wanted to sound just like her. I like when she said "That you are the one, the only one. That's for meeeee." That's my part!
This performance was all the way on point from the background singers' voices to the effortless runs from a sitting Faith Evans - "I try to remember" 2:10; standing - 4:52.
Her vocals are unbelieveable....Incredible....Damn I need a new faith album that showcases her talent and not what the label wants....Faith we miss you.
In her book she talks about this performance and how she and her friend were outside smoking a blunt and got caught. She was really close to being thrown off the show from it too.. LOL
I'm actually much more impressed with someone that can bring something fresh to one of their songs when singing live. I love Faith though and I agree that she sounds just as good here as she does in the studio.
Faith has always been a killer vocalist! People also need to remember Faith, Biggie, Lil Kim and all of them were VERY young during this time. I don’t think they were even 25 yet.
It took 30 or 40 seconds to realize this was live vocals because she changed one of the runs... how yo background and lead both gonna come out and be so pristine!
I loved her first album... in Australia it didn't even rate a blip... she's coming for a concert in April and I really hope she plays her early stuff... her love songs are just something else. "Won't you come over and make love to me cause I haven't seen you in a while really miss your smile"
This is my favorite song by Faith. This very performance stopped me from F****** one night just to hear her SANG this song. I remember stopping and saying “Damn Babe, she Blowing” and the intensity of the song made the Love Making that much more Intense. To this beautiful song, cause I Came Over that night….😊
LOVE THIS. True classic! I have this on VHS too. Video Soul was the sh*t back in the day. Donnie Simpson, Sherry Carter, the Midnight Love DJ. Dayum this brings back memories. Faith was sAngin' her a** off on this. She has that voice that just drip emotions. (lol @ backing vox. but she took control over her lead and blew them out the box, didn't she?) Thanks for sharing.
wow, faith ate that up, i remember seeing this back in the day freshman year! aww! She is definitely a "baby Karen" lol and yes that one background singer was flat and off a bit. But Faith was amazing! She was coming hard for someone's crown back in the day and you know who it is and we don't have to say her name!
OMG one of my FAVORITE songs on her 1st CD. I still have this whole performance on VHS!!! I remember it came on BET when she 1st came out!!! Bless you 4 posting this!
omg!! i been waiting for some nice person to put this on here. i saw this only one time but never forgot it. when i 1st got on youtube in '06 there were very little live videos of her. but now i saw keep it coming. THANK YOU! i used to read all her articles and save them back in the day. i would love to see old interviews and home video of her singing. she was so gangsta but innocent looking to me. reminded me of my favorite cousin she was a church/ street- smart girl.
I fell in love with her since the moment I heard her voice. She’s such a brilliant artist. She made for me not be the best stage performer, but her voice is transcendent
lol i read that too in her book! i love that album even more after reading the book. she was really in love and was really going through some deep shit yo.
