Who would be in for a Faithverse? She is in my opinion the cooler Slayer and I honestly think Eliza Dushka did an amazing job displaying Faith's character! Wish she had another reappearance in Angel season 5!
Joss tried, but Eliza Dushku had another show called Tru Calling under contract and nothing came of said Faith spinoff after Tru Calling was cancelled.
Well, it's not directly confirmed in the TV show, it's just that her hometown of South Boston, known as "Southie" is riddled with gangs, so it's pretty likely that she was in a gang, and here I'm speaking about Faith. Then there's also the conversation where she says to Richard Wilkins III that she was the boldest of the kids in her "crew" she used to run with back in the old neighborhood. It's not confirmed, it's the likelihood that tells me that, and you're right, it's not proven at all, just hipothosys right now. Still the same, she's a fictional woman, and it's kind of fun to consider that as a possible fanfic scenerio for a story. Sincerely; Chissstardestroyer. P.S. Added to that, in the tale "Daddy Issues", her dad often had local gangsters over, so this may have helped to shape her sense of what guys are really like too. And may have influenced her into joining a gang- she's a girl who's walked on the dark side, and that lead her to take on a role of a social worker for other 'at risk' slayers later on after Season 7 of Buffy and after Season 5 of Angel too.

Perhaps she was the gang leader until she got rescued by her first Watcher- that might be why she seemed to love her so much- the stories seem to indicate that her watcher was named "Diana Dormer".
