He's not exposing himself, he doesn't give a shit about being marketable, he has his niche and enjoys what he does for the people who love it. No need to sell anything, because the thing sells itself to those who love it for what it is. Marketing can suck a fat one.
he does have the best voice i've ever heard... he has amazing range and control over his voice and very powerful set of lungs! his creativity is off the charts and his style... i always say he is quite possibly the coolest dude on the planet... i feel lucky cuz my best friend was good friends with him so i feel like he is my friend too! and he is described as "outside of the box" type guy... really nice genuine person.. not afraid to speak his mind either he has a spine and doesn't care what the rock n roll community thinks
Every element of FNM is incredible- the originality, technical excellence Of each musician, The poetic depth of the lyrics, the passionate and astounding vocals, The infectious," Catchyness" of the songs the showmanship of their performance- always engaging, full - steam - ahead energy and humor- And it all sounds so great even today how many years later? Amazing band. I'm so lucky they've been Part of the soundtrack in my life.
Totally one of a kind! Remember the bungle demo tapes and the 92 ( I think) show at the Warfield. Sweet Jesus it was another world!!! Those were the days! Pay a bum 5buck to watch your car on Jesse ally ( defication ally.... everything had shit on it. Including the whores) drink smoke ect. And know worries about getting busted! Thank MOM
80s was better. I seem to recall in the mid 90s MTV showed nothing but the names of hate crime victims for a couple days. After that it was never the same, consisting largely of terrible reality shows and preachy political messaging. It just seemed less like music television after that. It was great from the early days and Down Town Julie Brown, Headbangers Ball, Countdown, Yo MTV Raps, Beavis and Butthead, Kennedy, etc. Anything after that era is basically rubbish imo
He brought the most authentic thrash sound to the group for sure. I think Trey Spruance was the right guitarist for King For a Day, but outside of that, I really wish Jim Martin was still the band’s guitarist.
I was an impressionable teen when I watched that live back in the day. Now, I’m an impressed adult. Talent is underrated. Thank God that Artists exist in every generation. This crew is a fine example of that particular era. Many blessing to those yet to come.
@@commerceserverservercommerce He was born in 1962, he was 28 years old at the time of the music video in 1990. Mike still looks young with some gray hair!!!
This is the same man from Lovage,(one of many side projects) just to put in perspective of how diverse & ultra gifted Patton is as a vocalist. Truly legendary
I remember purchasing this when it came out going straight home to record it on cassette (no CD players or Spotify in car back then) so I could drive around for hours listening too it …
If you have been mesmerised and enthralled By Mike Patton's lyrics and singing, and Faith no Mores' music accompaniment to it. Then you have experienced musical brilliance and your life is better off!!!!
Lol that's Mike Bordin....basically the leader of the band. Be nearly paralysed himself in the early 90s when he bungy jumped feet first....in Brisbane IIRC. In his defence that's when bungy jumping first became anthing and we didn't have internet to google shit before trying it lol.
I had the biggest crush on Mike Patton when The Real Thing came out. I was about 11 and still remember buying the tape. I still have that very tape to this day. My love of rock/metal started very young partially thanks to these guys👌🏻. Sense of securityyyy My pockets jing-a-liiing Midliiiife Criiisiiis
Dam you really like Layne Staley lol? Best vocalist there was in the 90s imo. He's my absolute favorite. Too bad he went down the path he did. Seems like Layne was never the same after he ODd on I think it was a van halen tour, and after he died and came back he just went back to his apartment and slowly killed himself. I just lost a friend last week who was probably 24 or 25. An innocent soul tormented by lack of spirit in others, and so they lower themselves to be like the rest. Not everybody makes it out alive I suppose.
Dave Van Hasselt He still does. He would not be known of not for them, and likewise for them. An amazing set of talented folks. That said: their lyrics though: INCREDIBLE!!!!
They did this song on Saturday Night Live around the same time and i really like it. Mike climbs around on the stage rigging during the song. It is truly Epic!
I've been a big fan of FNM since I was a kid and Mike's vocal range is out-fuckin-standing but my greatest frontman of all time is definitely Layne Staley. Always will be. No offence,Patton.... you're a legend🤗
Really love reading all the comments from people who were of age when this came out. I was a little over a year old when this performance was recorded but my earliest musical memories include "Epic" cause my mom had this on tape. I have memories of the FNM tape next to Pretty Hate Machine on the stereo shelf and my mom switching between them.
its funny you brought that up i was literally listening to that soundtrack tonight at work i was playing my mexican friend whose english isnt that great fnm and boo ya tribe
I’ve always had a special kind of love for this song. I never knew exactly who the band was, but whenever I’d hear tha chorus, I’d have to sing along. just to myself. Faith No More ARE THE SHIT🤘
