Just another reason why I love FNM, they'll play whatever the hell they feel like playing and you better believe it will sound great. FNM, among the greatest.
I love the Brothers Johnson and they did them right by this cover. So funny to see people’s reactions to the change up. I’m sure that’s on purpose - they’ve always been a bit mischievous and funny, especially Patton. It’s great! If you just like music, regardless of genre, FNM has to be a band that piques your interest.
They seem to love throwing people off, I just love everything about this band. Mike Patton has brought so much to music, we won’t see another like him.
Mike Bordin is one of the most underrated drummers. He’s played with Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, Jerry Cantrell, and even played a few shows with Black Sabbath when Bill Ward had to take time off.
Didn't he play with Korn also or AC DC? Its late and trying to remember what concert I saw him besides seeing FNM at the beginning of their career in Raleigh and VaBch in 97 or 98.
I just listened to when they performed this song on Leno in 1993, and now this in 2015. Mike's voice is just as good in 2015 as it was in 93. All the members put on such a good performance still.
Next time someone throws in the term "under-rated" please throw in Mike Bordin - amazing drummer, super hard hitting, his beats are iconic, boomy but bouncy.
Hehehe ... Saravá!!
Holy shit, FANTASTIC QUALITY on this one!! Thank for sharing man! Best lyrics in the last few decades, lightweights need not apply! SHEER GENUS JUMPING INTO BROTHERS JOHNSON!! Had that record as a kid!
I had my MLC in 1992, I hummed the track (and all the others from Angel Dust), when I released myself for a vacation to the island of "bitter lemons (Lawrence Durrell)", Cyprus, when this WOMAN became Aphrodite, I was for a late swim, when ergo beautiful Annie Lennox (sort-o-lookalike) type, even more pretty - that body... , raised from Mare Nostrum, an Oranje tan, an oranje swim suite (yes she was Dutch) And I was about to ask her if there were more like her/"you" where you came from? She just smiled, stretched her remarcable physique - and she entrolled me. Then I realized I was married. Bugger! Anyfreakinway, every time I listen to AD, a smile appears. Evidence.
Epic? Lol yeah bud, I hope you're digging deeper. Normally people stumble into shallower rabbit holes before the Mike Patton/FNM stuff. You're in for a wild ride!
head and shoulders above all others. These guys would be one of the few bands who are actually better now than they were back in the 80s/90s. Astounding.
A legendary actor who recently passed away, Jack Lemmon. Patton and Lemmon, both amazing comical performers. When I see one or the other, I think of the other. I'm mentioning the younger Lemmon and his demeanor reminds me of Patton. (vice versa)
Puffy truly is a great drummer and as much as I agree he doesn’t get the level of credit he deserves…the fact he has played with Sabbath, Ozzy, Korn, Black Label Society and Primus in between his FNM commitments suggests he has the full respect of the people who truly matter!
6 minute clip barely showing Billy Gould putting out that amazing bass tone. Post-production editor and/or the director on-site for the cameras, dropped the ball.
I suspect it was either a defense mechanism, joke against the masses/recording company, or just being a general shit. He had the chops then, they're insane now.
Me and a friend saw them about 7 years ago and we were told off by the people next to us because we were head banging and jumping around and were bumping them too much 😎
