Tough song and rare to hear it. His voice is strong, he handled his s.hit and put it all out there for the world to see. Impressive performance. Bravo Mike, Faith No More.... YOU WIN!
I was born in '92 and I've become a fan of FNM over the past few years. During lockdown they are pretty much all I have listened to. I discovered this song and I think it might be my favourites in their entire catalogue. It's amazing that his voice can sound just like it did nearly 30 years ago in the higher parts of this song, this man is a vocal genius.
Was at this gig, and Faith No More were the highlight of the day, and this was the opening song for them and I was blown away, then Soundgarden did Superunknown in it’s entirety…and then Black Sabbath to close, it might have been the best day of my life
I never would have thought they perform Zombie Eaters post The Real Thing at such a large venue. Zombie Eaters was one of my favorites from that album. It's weird that The Real Thing was the album that helped me discover FNM, but over time was the album I listened to least, but as of lately songs like Zombie Eaters and From Out of Nowhere are at the front of my FNM playlist.
I know exactly what you mean re The Real Thing. It blew my 15 year old mind when it came out and for at least a year afterwards I must have listened to it several hundred times start to finish. But throughout the millions of years since then I don't think I've chosen to listen to a single tune from that album even once. I'll still give We Care A Lot and Introduce Yourself a spin once in a blue moon and every so often I'll sift through RU-vid for live versions of songs from Angel Dust onward but this is the first clip I've clicked on featuring anything from The Real Thing. And you're right; Zombie Eaters is awesome and I think this version sounds fucking fantastic.
Digging the grave drew my attention to FNM and midlife crisis made me fall in love with them. And ashes to ashes made me look at music differently. But zombie eaters is special, this song is something else.
Shot on a smartphone... and this vid still manages to have as much artistic merit as any music video from the last quarter-century. Thanks for sharing.
in 1990 I went through three copies of this album on cassette tape simply because I wore them out and this was always the song to go first when the tape would start to Warp lol good times
Safe to say my head turned up next morning after a very strong coffee and shower, although I was worried for a bit lol. Great upload btw, great memories \m/
I imagine he doesn’t care for singing these songs anymore. I guess I understand. To see him sing this with some effort makes me so happy. Such a small thing to him but important to a lot of people. Takes me right back to 89-90 driving around with my brother in a jeep with the top off.
One day I will see Zombie Eaters live! Yes, yes I will. I’m a good little fan- I come to every show & buy the merch etc & despite injuries that have prevented the use of one foot (I’m not even really supposed to walk on it!) I still limp through the crowd, up to the front & show my many years of love...so GIVE ME ZOMBIE EATERS!!!!
gah he still sounds as amazing as ever, and live. I don't think there are too many bands that sound as good live as they do on track without lip-syncing. So much love for these guys.
Great performance by the great Mike Patton! Zombie Eaters is one of my favorite FnM songs, I like it starts quietly and then explodes. The lyric, then, is sooooo cool.
Lets just see what happens now Faith No More rise from their sleep, Ill tell you now that all the kids will feel like they have had a slap call to wake up and hear real music from a legendary band.
One of my favorite bands. Just a unique kind of sound that fit the post grunge era that freed us from the 80's. . Michael 's vocals with a bad ass band behind him was mezmorizing. I saw them in my home town of Cleveland Ohio at the age of 18. Still one of the best shows ever. A definite epic experience.
I used to sing this song again and again when I was 11 years old back in 1991... hell yeahh.. 25 years and mike patton and FNM still catch my attention.
I was At this gig all the way from Canada. I was there just for sabbath but stayed for Motörhead who were amazing as always and then FNM came on. I only heard Epic and immediately after this performance I felt so bad for dismissing them as the band who did Epic. I was blown away and am now a FNM fan!!!!
MRFUCKOFF202 well I stayed for them because I was there early enough and wanted to see them. I'll admit I almost skipped FNM altogether but after having gotten a beer waiting some 40 minutes in line I decided to go get a good spot for Sabbath by sitting through FNM... so glad I stayed. Their music has been playing endlessly in my house since.
Scott Baldwin Oh right. I missed Motörhead because after making the trip to London I couldn't be arsed running over to Hyde Park from the hotel to catch them. I got there literally just as FNM walked on stage and got a pretty shit position far over at the side, but it was still awesome. I did want to see FNM but I only knew Epic and Midlife Crisis and didn't expect their huge catalog of awesome songs. Now some of their songs are in my top 30 most played songs. Those queues were awful. Me and a mate waited 30-40 minutes essentially for food poisoning!
MRFUCKOFF202 ouch... I just had chicken wings and wedges before motorhead then after that just focused on getting beer and since FNM didn't leave my spot since. Then got some McDonald's on Picadilly Circus after the show. (I was starving okay) XD.
Scott Baldwin Don't think I'm going to buy meat from festivals anymore lol. I also got a fake coke from Download Festival which tasted like watered down acid...
I think this is the best live performance of this song I've ever seen. Wish there was a professional audio recording of this whole set. Great video though!
Truly amazing and revealing personal lyrics. I still listen to this album years later and find nuances in form that current artists wish they could duplicate, but have no personal experience to compare
atropineman The lyrics really aren’t personal at all. He is just singing about life from a babies point of view. Which in and of itself is an amazing idea for lyrics.
Zombie Eaters is one of my favorites from the The Real Thing album. There are many interpretations of the meaning of this song, but for me Bruno Bettelheim's "Joey, the Mechanical Boy" comes to mind.
I was so annoyed I couldn't get the time off work, so glad someone filmed this, they are still brilliant!! Been listening to Faith No More since birth!
Was there that day and gotta say that FNM was my favourite part of a great day. When they came out and played this, emotion nearly got the better of me. Thanks for posting
Was watching the performance of this from Brixton. And a young long haired Patton. Then came across this. The man's still got it. This version is a bit slower. I may be wrong. But still brilliant nonetheless.
Thanks so much! I was too far back to see properly but we nearly wet ourselves when they came on with this. For a guy who claims he doesn't care about lyrics, he certainly writes some awesome ones :) Great vid .
This is great.. I'm thrilled to have the pleasure of seeing and hearing this performance.. but god damnit.. who would stare at their phone instead of taking this in! 😫
You're everything that's why I cling to you When I emerge my thoughts converge to you To you The world is so small compared to you And everybody's wrong compared to you To you I begin to see through your eyes All the former mysteries are no surprise So now, you listen 'Cause I'm omniscient Hey look at me lady I'm just a little baby You're lucky to have me I'm cute and sweet as candy As charming as a fable I'm innocent and disabled So hug me and kiss me Then wipe my butt and piss me I hope you never leave 'Cause who would hear me scream Nobody understands Except the toys in my hands So now you listen 'Cause I'm omniscient Hey look at me lady I'm just a little baby If I smile, then you smile Then I'll get mad for awhile I melt in your mouth And in your hands whenever I can But I really do nothing Except kickin' and fussin' I like to make a mess I laugh at your distress I sit all day in my crib Absorbing all you give I'm helpless I'm flawless I'm a machine Give me, I need my toys Keep me hot keep me strong keep me everlong
Yes! I just saw this, one of my favourite songs by the priest himself. I was shouting at him to sing it at the last concert I went to, but he didn’t. I thought he must’ve have forgotten how to sing it but clearly not. Next time I’ll take a sign! Apparently a live performance of this song is a rare treat. One question though, who downvoted it?
Cheers (Again! Always looking at your channel after FNM/Patton gigs!) for the quick upload and the awesome quality videos! Amazing as always, weren't they!? The power of Christ compels you!!
MY FAVORITE SONG WHEN I WAS A LITTLE KID ,12 YEARS OLD ,I HAD A TAPE FROM THE BRIXTON ACADEMY ,THE TAPE WAAS DESTROYED BECAUSE I WAS HEARING IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!!
I was pretty fucked at this show. I downed 3 big bottles of San Miguel before I entered Hyde Park then I had 2 more beers when I got there. I was singing the wrong words to songs.
