Great message. Romans makes this so clear. Romans 4 and studying the story of Abraham which is given as an example in all the key justification passages reveals the astounding simplicity of the gospel. We live, are made righteous, and obtain eternal life by an unstoppable promise of God. Just as Abraham could have the faith to lift a knife over Issac, NOT to earn God's promise, but rather because of his complete confidence in it. God PROMISED: Through Issac will your descendants be counted. Therefore, Abraham knew that no matter what happened, Isaac was coming back down that mountain alive. Complete assurance of salvation is where Abraham's works came from. So we also have a sure promise of God: Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made to us-eternal life. (1 John 2:24-25)

The Reformers' Gospel says: (1) Justification is instantaneous and is by faith alone (sola fide) (2) through faith alone justification we receive Christ' righteousness imputed on or credited to us while our sins, past AND future, imputed on or credited to Christ who bore them on the cross. They call it double imputation. (3) We do NOT become righteous but only legally counted a s righteous but remain sinner at the same time. Christ remains sinless but He is legally counted as sinner. (4) God directed His wrath and anger to sinless Christ, instead of to us and let us enter heaven while we remain in sin. Is this teaching scriptural? (1) The phrase "justified by faith" appear four times in NT (Rom. 3:28, 5:1, Gal. 2:16, 3:24). NT was written in Greek and the one in Rom. 3:28 is in Greek passive present tense while the other three are in Greek passive aorist tense. Both tenses do not indicate a completed justification by faith and the person remains justified ever since. If Scripture teaches faith-alone justification, then Paul would write the phrase "justified by faith" in Greek passive perfect tense. (2) Scripture says in Ezekiel 18:20 " the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself". This verse denies double imputation of the Reformers - both righteousness and wickedness are NOT transferrable. (3) Ezekiel 33:12 says: "the righteous shall NOT be able to live by his righteousness when he sins". This verse denies the Reformers' teaching that we can become justified/righteous (externally) and sinner (internally) at the same time. Scripture says our sins committed after faith do affect our salvation (Heb. 10:24-26). 1 John 3:8 says: "he who sins is of the devil". (4) Double imputation makes (1) God legally let you enter heaven because you legally counted as righteous while remaining unrighteous and (2) God legally punish Christ on the cross for our sins because He was legally a sinner while being sinless. It is like letting a criminal walk free because his crimes are credited to an innocent person who was executed for the crimes he did not do. This is injustice and God, being just, cannot commit injustice. Prov. 17:15 even says "he who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike abomination to the Lord". Deut. 24:16 says "every man shall be put to death for his own sin".

Thank you God sharing. As for me, I believe that Jesus’ sacrifice is enough. Nothing I can do will be worthy. In Christ alone am I made whole. It’s because of His sacrifice, that I choose to follow Him. I fail all the time, but, His sacrifice is still enough. There’s nothing I can do to hinder His amazing grace. All the praise be to God and God alone.

The Great White Throne Revelation 20:11-15 (King James Version) 11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their WORKS. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their WORKS. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.🤢🤢

Two things to notice about this passage: Books (plural) were opened, and every man was judged according to their works. By what is in these books of works not one man gets out of the lake of fire. There is only one book that gets you out: the book of life, where your name (not your works) is written. Compare with the other text commonly brought into this conversation, Matthew 7: Many will say to me "Lord, Lord, have we not...in thy name done many wonderful works?" To which Jesus replies: I never KNEW you, depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. Do you see it? Those that come to Jesus hoping to be saved by their works are judged by their works and will always come up short. There is no hope in that. The only hope for sinful man is trusting in God, that he is faithful to fulfill the promise of the free gift of righteousness (Rom 5:17) through the one sacrifice of Jesus. As Romans 4 says: 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Romans 4:4-8, KJV) You can only be made righteous by a free gift, not of your own works. Only when that has happened can you stand in judgement before the throne and have all your evil works not held against you. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Your sins cannot be counted against you by the complete reliability of a promise of God. For the Christian counting on righteousness by God's promise through faith, there only remains reward for good works, no longer condemnation for the bad. For the unbelieving, even what they might attempt as a good work is defiled. Isa 64:6, Titus 1:15-16

@@biblealone9201 How do you reconcile this passage with Romans 4? Or is it a contradiction? I'll give three hints as to how this is reconciled in my understanding: 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work. (Titus 1:15-16) Notice how the unbelieving are unfit for good works, for: without faith it is impossible to please God. (Heb 11:16) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Notice the order of events in the above passage: salvation proceeds works. Notice finally the identity of the ones in Matthew: sheep and goats. Their identity and placement on each side of the throne is determined prior to their works being judged. There are saved ones and unsaved ones. The saved ones are judged by the good they have done, without mention of their bad deeds (for their sins are covered), the unsaved ones are judged with no mention of any good they have done, for nothing they have done was done in faith.

@@Nighthawkinlight WHAT DOES “FAITH” REALLY MEAN??? To properly interpret Sacred Scripture you have to understand the verse IN CONTEXT of what the author was intending to convey during his particular time period and culture not ours, the verse within the chapter, the chapter within the book, and the book within the Bible as a whole. Are you aware St. Paul as ”a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth” 1 Timothy 2:7 was constantly writing to defend Gentiles from Mosaic Ceremonial “Works of the Law” (circumcision). Are you aware St. Paul in Romans and Galatians was arguing for the Gentiles to be accepted strictly on "faith" in Jesus Christ through using Abraham as an example who was “justified” and made “righteous” on “faith” yet still uncircumcised??? St. Paul was emphasizing in Romans only "ONE SIDE" of a two sided coin (One side FAITH and the other side WORKS). St. Paul used the "faith" side to argue for the Gentiles to be accepted and grafted in. The other side of the coin "WORKS" was written about in the Book of James (Book of James was written for people like you who were misinterpreting St. Paul in Romans). James 2:24 "You see a man is justified by works, and NOT BY FAITH ALONE". AGAIN, THE BIBLE, THE WORD OF GOD SAYS "NOT BY FAITH ALONE". "Faith and Works" which Jesus Christ clearly taught and the Catholic Church continues to teach in obedience. For example, you all seem to miss Paul's introduction in Romans 2:6-7 "FOR HE WILL RENDER TO EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS WORKS: TO THOSE WHO BY PATIENCE IN WELL-DOING SEEK FOR GLORY AND HONOR AND IMMORTAILY, HE WILL GIVE ETERNAL LIFE". Now, wait a minute you just said all I have to do is "believe"??? Luke 6:37-38 and Matthew 7:1-2 "Judge NOT, that you be not judged. For with the Judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get". So now, I cannot judge harshly otherwise I will be judged harshly by GOD. Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, BUT HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN”. Now, I have to do the Father’s will to even enter the “Kingdom of Heaven”??? Matthew 10:33 “But WHOEVER DENIES ME BEFORE MEN, I WILL ALSO DENY BEFORE MY FATHER who is in heaven”. Now, I have to never deny Jesus before men or risk rejection myself??? Mark 16:16 “He who believes AND IS BAPTIZED will be saved. See 1 Peter 3:21 also. Now, I have to be baptized to be saved??? John 13:34 “A NEW COMMANDMENTS I GIVE TO YOU, THAT YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER; EVEN AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, THAT YOU ALSO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. THIS IS ALL SHALL KNOW THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES, IF YOU HAVE LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER”. Now, no love then I am not a disciple??? How did Jesus love us and now He commands us to do the same??? Did Jesus say I love you “one time” and do nothing else??? Nope, Jesus Christ showed us what LOVE IS by being selfless sacrificial, and emptying Himself out on the cross for us!!! Luke 8:21 “My mother and MY BRETHREN ARE THOSE WHO HEAR THE WORD OF GOD AND DO IT”. Wait a minute, now I have to “DO” what I am told in the WORD of GOD to be considered a “part” of GOD’s family??? 1 John 3:18-19 “Children, let us love not in word and speech, BUT IN DEED AND IN TRUTH. BY THIS WE SHALL KNOW ARE WE OF THE TRUTH”. What does this clearly say about a one-time verbal profession of faith??? Matthew 7:19 "EVERY TREE THAT DOES NOT BEAR GOOD FRUIT IS CUT DOWN AND THROWN INTO THE FIRE" Now, I have to bear good fruit otherwise I risk damnation??? John 15:8 “By this my Father is glorified, that YOU BEAR MUCH FRUIT, AND SO PROVE TO BE MY DISCIPLES”. Once again, I have to “bear fruit” and now “prove to be” Jesus Christ’s disciple. Colossians 1:10 “LEAD A LIFE WORTHY OF THE LORD, FULLY PLEASING TO HIM, BEARING FRUIT IN EVERY GOOD WORK and increasing knowledge of GOD” There’s that “FRUIT” thing again that one must “do” to be “FULLY PLEASING” to GOD. Revelation 2:4-5 “But I have this against you, that you have ABANDONED THE LOVE YOU HAD AT FIRST. Remember then from what you have fallen, REPENT AND DO THE WORKS YOU DID AT FIRST. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place”. Now, we have to through our repentance “DO WORKS” otherwise a “remove your lampstand” consequence will befall us??? Does that sound like we will still be saved without “WORKS”??? John 5:29 “THOSE WHO HAVE DONE GOOD, TO THE RESURRECTION OF LIFE, AND THOSE WHO HAVE DONE EVIL, TO THE RESURRECTION OF JUDGMENT”. Now, I have to do “GOOD” and avoid “EVIL” or sin to avoid “JUDGMENT”??? John 3:5”TRULY, TRULY I SAY TO YOU, UNLESS ONE IS BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT, HE CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD". Now, I have to be REBORN of "Water (Baptism) and SPIRIT (Laying of Hands)" to even enter the ONE “Kingdom of GOD”??? John 6:54 "HE WHO EATS MY FLESH AND DRINKS MY BLOOD HAS ETERNAL LIFE". Now, I have to eat the “Lamb of GOD” (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19) to be saved??? 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the LORD in an UNWORTHY MANNER will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the LORD. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks WITHOUT DISCERNING THE BODY EATS AND DRINKS JUDGMENT UPON HIMSELF”. Now, I have to be “worthy” to partake of the “Lamb of GOD” otherwise I risk JUDGMENT??? James 1:22, 25 “BE DOERS OF THE WORD, AND NOT HEARERS ONLY, DECEIVING YOURSELVES”…”BUT HE WHO LOOKS IN THE PERFECT LAW (referring to John 13:34), THE LAW OF LIBERTY, AND PERSEVERES, BEING NO HEARER THAT FORGETS BUT A DOER THAT ACTS, HE SHALL BE BLESSED IN HIS DOING”. James who was one of the three most beloved disciples in Jesus’s “inner circle” what does he clearly teach here??? Romans 15:18 “For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Jesus Christ has accomplished through me TO LEAD THE GENTILES TO OBEDIENCE BY WORD AND DEED”. St. Paul now emphasizing I need to be OBEDIENT BY WORD AND DEED??? Philippians 2:12 "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING". Wait a minute, I thought you said St. Paul said all I need to do is "believe" and I am saved??? The Bible and St. Paul here is telling me I have to continue in "Good Works" to "WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION"??? Acts 26:20 “Declared…..that they should repent and turn to GOD and PERFORM DEEDS WORTHY OF THEIR REPENTANCE” 2 Thessalonians 1:8 “INFLICTING VENGENCE upon those who do not know GOD and those WHO DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS”. Now, I have to OBEY THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST”??? 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, SO THAT EACH MAY RECEIVE GOOD OR EVIL, ACCORDING TO WHAT HE HAS DONE IN THE BODY”. So, now I HAVE TO DO GOOD??? *John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, BUT WHOEVER DISOBEYS THE SON WILL NOT SEE LIFE, BUT THE WRATH OF GOD REMAINS UPON HIM”.* *John 5:29 “THOSE WHO HAVE DONE GOOD, TO THE RESURRECTION OF LIFE, AND THOSE WHO HAVE DONE EVIL, TO THE RESURRECTION OF DEATH”* John 8:51 “Truly, Truly, I say to you, IF ANY ONE KEEPS MY WORD, he will never see death” Hebrews 5:9 “He became the source of eternal salvation TO ALL WHO OBEY HIM”. Acts 5:32 “And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN TO THOSE WHO OBEY HIM” I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. "Believe" is a loaded word full of expectations for the sons and daughters of GOD. "BELIEVE" really means to "OBEY". Faith is only the first step towards Heaven, and LOVE is the second step which is an ACTION out of OBEDIENCE. FAITH AND WORKS just as the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church teaches.😘😘

Below is a summary of what Catholics believe on salvation: (1) Both salvation and justification are process that includes faith (Eph. 2:8) and sanctification (2 Thes. 2:13). (2) through justification we are made righteous through Christ (Rom. 5:19). Our righteousness comes from God through Christ as we do not and cannot become self-righteous. We are made righteous through faith as faith is counted as righteousness (Rom. 4:3). According to Scripture righteousness does not come from faith only. Gen 15:6 says that faith is counted to Abraham for righteousness but according to Psalms 106:31 what is counted [the same Hebrew verb as in Gen. 15:6] for righteousness to Phinehas is not faith as it is written verse 30. 1John 3:7 says: "he who does what is right is righteous". Our ability both to have faith and to do what is right comes from and is only possible by grace through Christ - apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Why becoming righteous is essential for our salvation? Scripture says that the wage of sin is death (Rom. 6:23) and the soul that sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). It is righteousness that delivers from death (Prov. 10:2, 11:4) and the righteous shall go to eternal life (Mat. 25:46). (3) We lose our righteousness through sinning (Ezek. 33:12). According to Scripture (1 John 5:16-17) there are deadly or mortal sins and non-deadly or venial sins. This is the reason why we need Sacraments through the Church who is the Body of Christ, through which our sins are washed away, provided we repent, and returns our righteous state back. When we die in righteous state and are judged (Heb. 9:27) we will be declared righteous and are therefore entitled to enter heaven because we are indeed (made) righteous. When we die still with non-deadly sins then purgatory cleanse us from them. We lose our righteousness through sinning (Ezek. 33:12, cited above). (4) Christ willingly offered Himself to die for our sins because without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin (Heb. 9:22). God did not direct His anger and wrath to Him. We enter heaven based on what Christ did on the cross AND what He does in us, i.e. He transforms us from our unrighteous state to righteous state.

FAITH AND WORKS just as the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church teaches.💋

@@sirena9167 I divided into four points, both in what Catholics believe and what the Reformers taught in my preceding comment - in order to make comparison.

@@jj-ns3ck I think Christ means OBEY ALL HE COMMANDS Jn 17:22-23, "And the glory that thou hast given Me, I have given to Matt. 28, 18-20: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore. and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 🐱‍🏍🐱‍🏍Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Where in the Bible does one find judgment based on something other than works? You won't. We are judged on works-- not on the works of the Law of Moses--works that Jesus did. We are not judged on our faith, but on our works. We are justified by faith, but judged on works. You are a hobbyist, hobbying on justification and forgetting judgment. We are judged on our works. Challenge: find where judgment is based on anything other than works.

works are not part of our salvation, Christ did all the work on the Cross . Its faith alone, in Christ alone in scripture alone. We get rewards for what we did for the Lord.

@@sm-rt8fp So is Hitler in heaven because he believed in Christ? or did what he do (his works) pull him from the light of Christ?

Then it would defeat the purpose for Christ to die on the cross for us.
