I was born and raised in Tonga, I understand the Futuna language similar to the Tongan language. This song reminds me one of the song, sang by the FAONELUA from LAPAHA. TAVA the chief of HOI sing the high note! I'm taking about 80's. From History, Time Line, Food, Culture, tradition. I can honestly say that Futuna and Tonga are same Peoples!
Yessah people don’t understand that the empire of Tonga were the ones who voyaged the waters and populated the islands, if the other islands were the ones who came to Tonga well it’ll be impossible because of how tough it was to sell to Tonga, not even captain cook could sail the waters, meaning only Tonga could sell those waters only ones who knew how, it’s crazy how a lot of the poly languages have similar words to the Tongan language *hint*
@@alphacrop5759 people look back with separatism lens.... yet We were an Empire of islands..... United unified under Tangaloa and was succeeded by Tuitonga line.... we settled and populated these islands and kept relations .....til it got difficult and we grew distant... withdrew from east and north Polynesia around 1300AD...sticking mainly to western Polynesia.... til inner struggles and chiefs wanting a different governing system.... Uvea .. Samoa etc...severed ties... 1500AD Tuitonga departure from Samoa and secluded to the confines of just the Tonga archipelago....but notice Captain cook witnessed the inasi ceremony ....among all the people in attendance he saw people who appeared to be of African descent....people still acknowledged Tuitonga as the successor representative and the direct male lineage of Tangaloa ..... But under the Tuitonga in ancient times we were an Empire of islands......we were moving 30 ton megalithic stones 500miles from Uvea to Tonga and built the Haamonga a Maui.....so moving people to settle and populate an island us nothing....also the migration east is estimated to have happened between 900AD to 1200AD...thats the Tuitonga era.... Tuitonga Kauulufonua I estimated 900AD and the name says the empire had grown to 20 different island groups Kau= 20.... Ulu= head Fonua=islands.... But people are thinking Tongans were ill nvading and conquering already settled islands like European empires where they ransacked killed the men and rape impregnating all the women ...that is foreign invasion.....whereas unlike Europe we were the same people....the chiefs of Tonga were the chiefly clan of the first arrivals settling Polynesia
