No, it is not true. That fact is for spinning a coin. Any object always flips in the air around it’s center of mass so it doesn’t matter at all if one side is “heavier” than another. Flipping a coin is fair. Spinning it is not.

It would cause the rotation of the coin to slow somewhat as the centre of gravity will have shifted slightly further from the axis of rotation, but this wouldn’t inherently affect the odds of either side landing.
