Even the building is a knockoff. Very similar to Lego’s official Spider-Man set 76005, but missing the top floor and interior. Like they did the first couple pages of the instructions and called it a day.
Compared to Lego's 76005, it's missing the top floor and interiors... and the antennae, and the roof, and the fire escape, and the streetlamp, and the dumpster, and the signs, and the screens. :-P
Well obviously the glass doors that open on the 2nd floor are for the heroes that can fly or for Reeve Rogers: Lieutenant Lithuania to board his waiting masonryjet. BuildX knows what it's doing.
@2:48 for those that are wondering, the movie reference is Firefox (1982), where a pilot is sent into the Soviet Union on a mission to steal a prototype jet fighter that can be partially controlled by a neuralink
Firefox is the movie he referenced, starring Clint Eastwood and the plane required you to think in Russian but not just that, also had to be backward, not normal russian.
The Winchester Mansion (infamous for being built with in an ALMOST nonsensical erratic way) has a door on an upper floor that does in fact lead to a straight drop to the ground.
Well, since Lego lost its patent, there have been lots of companies that offer lego like toys that are the same or better than lego in quality, for much cheaper. Check out bluebrixx, cobi, mouldking etc...
I'm happy to see professor Ashens has returned to his original format of reviewing tat regularly. Me and my wife stopped watching a while ago for a reason I cannot recall, but we are once again enjoying these videos like we did a decade ago. Cheers Stuart x love ya.
I appreciated the Firefox reference. One of the most relaxing spy movies of all time, I really enjoy being able to catch a nap and miss almost nothing.
I got the Firefox reference..I feel old. Fun fact I saw a weird transforming firefox plane on Aliexpress, was tempted to buy it for a Transformers collecting friend for mine
@@thesteelrodent1796 Why? Are you worried children will irresponsibly commandeer an A1M1 Abrams and attack civilians in breach of international wartime law?
@@thesteelrodent1796 Millions of kids play with shit like toy guns, soldiers, tanks and helicopters and turn out fine. Shit Lego make tanks just not real ones. Quit making stuff up to complain about. Kids know toys are toys.
Captain Canada's Swimjet seems to have a lot of breeze blocks where people have nicked the hood ornaments he had glued on it... Oh the door thing, the church I used to go to had a door near the ceiling that was designated as "Angels Only" or something.
A town In the American state of new Jersey has lots of buildings made mostly of glass like that actually, they're all office buildings or doctors offices. Now granted, the windows don't open like doors, but if you ignore that it's convincing enough! Hahaha
My local 5 Bellow branch actually had something interesting in the Fake LEGO front. Rugrats sets, with an official license no less. They had 2 of em. One you could build a Reptar Wagon with, another with a little playground set. One came with Angelica and the other had Tommy.
I mean, seeing who the most subscribed political youtubers are, understanding anything other than how to get a job through your family's connections better than them is a _really_ low bar.
No idea why but for the past month I can't watch a ashen vid on my phone it literally Green screens, so I'll just have to imagine what is being shown on screen 😂. Keep it up Ashens 🧐🫖
As a kid I would have cut that panel from the box for my wall. I had a whole hodgepodge of stuff including a Hess Toy Truck poster for all the years made.
I can answer the window-door question. Its a cost saving measure, because its a lot cheaper to make ten identical pieces than one door and nine windows. Also, Stu, you might wanna look at your lighting. Captain Canada there is really dark on camera, you can barely make out the details of him.
For some reason, the wall in the captain America set reminds of the old Official Roblox map "Glass Houses" which looks exactly like that random wall of Glass
I recently got a fake Lego set and the Minifigure had 2 right arm pieces. I wish I could attach a photo but it looked like it had dislocated its left arm. Its existence is pain.
I cant really say why but when he asked what makes the alien guy a nefarious villian and with the least invested tone ever just went "idk...tax evasion" i lost it
Lego would never do it, they're incredibly pissy when it comes to representing militaries... which is kinda hypocritical considering they made Lego Star Wars a thing, but too afraid of making real life military vehicles? Like, what differs one from another? Fiction? X-Wings and TIE Fighters are still being used in a war, a fictional one, but a war nonetheless 😂
This is the exact type of video that I watch you for. I appreciate you branching out, but this is what I love seeing. If you doing other things means sacrificing the content where you parade weird little things around on the couch, I'd rather have this stuff.
I own that star wars set you were talking about, and yeah. The wall stayed up maybe a day then i cannibalized it, keeping dooku, yoda, and the speeder from it. Ironically i lost both of their heads and a aileron for the bike. Most bizarrely though is i have dooku's hair, but not his head.💀
Anyone else remember Tente fake Lego? I bought the aircraft carrier set, it was amazing as Lego didn't do military stuff back then, better than Lego I think.
The way the building is styled is making me think it's most likely a small section of a skyscraper. Also, "Zip-Zap-Zonty" immediately reminded me of Zudo from Telebugs for some reason, if anyone out there even vaguely remembers that weird little children's cartoon from the mid 80s.
Ahh, I also remember the days when Firefox was a decent-ish action / spy movie instead of a once-magnificent-but-now-horrifically-bloated web browser. How the mighty have fallen, and I don't mean Clint Eastwood.
I've been collecting those Lego Minifigures from Dollar Tree here in the States, as it's like a cheaper way to fill up my Lego town with 4 minifigures for $1, and honestly their designs have been growing on me.
4:24 Why would you have a door that opens on the second floor out to a plummeting drop?! Maybe it’s the former headquarters of Data East! Hah! There’s a reference to a joke I made years ago!
A trailer for a new movie played before the video, but for a second, I thought Ashens edited in the MGM Lion intro to the beginning of these Lego videos and I wasn't surprised at all.
Build-X sets used to be made by Chinese company Jie Star and the minifigures were very similar to Lego ones. Then Poundland switched supplier and the sets are now made by another Chinese company, Woma. They also make sets for Wilko (sold as Wilko Blox) and M&B Bargains (sold as Brick By Brick).
fake lego always has weird figures but I thought the patent expired on the Lego firgure so anyone could make them now. Every time I get fake Lego they're missing parts, and not generic parts, they are always the special parts that I can't just get from other sets.
