FAKE Marshall Monitor Bluetooth Headphones: how to spot them 

Man, thank you for this series of videos! I've tested mines with several devices so far (including an LG G6 in a store) and the APTX didn't worked at all, I've opened a complain against the store that I've bought, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get a refund, I'm so pissed, this things here in Brazil cost like ~ U$$ 225.

Do the fake ones play the Marshall strum noise when switched on? Seems they have gone to great lengths to make a fake.

I tried 2 of these that I purchased from a Best Buy, and they never paired to my Android device. After fully charging the headphones and my device, the headphones would not show up in my Bluetooth list. Same thing when I tried to pair it with a couple of Apple devices. Also tried my friend’s Major II to my device and it paired seamlessly. Shame, I was really looking forward to these headphones.

After a year and a half I just realized mine are fake. They actually sound pretty good but damn it they got me.

Do you know if they are made a fake for ANC model ?

Bought two od these, one with sbc, another with aac. Now im buying from a real shop, not the ebay/amazon wannabe.

I could switch von AAC to aptX in my settings, hope someone sees this lol, does that mean they're real?

Happened even to me. The fake Marshall had no AAC nor aptX support. The store (I think in Spain) refund me but they didn't want the headphones back. Then I bought them again, this time at Saturn's in Germany and they had AAC (recognizable with a MacBook) and aptX (developer setting with my Android Sony/LG/Samsung)

Hey man. Do you know if they are faking the wired version too? I have one for 1 and a half year. They stopped working one side (they only work in the side they are plugged). I started searching some information and came across your video. I think mine may be fake, but all the things you said I can't use to spot. Mine doesn't have bluetooth, I don't have the box anymore and the spring I pushed it so much that is very large, I bought mine on amazon for $155.95 from "Grey Dealz". Is there anyway to spot if they are fake?

Have purchased one from amazon but after 2 weeks of use have noted that : -the spring around the 3.5mm headphone jack is loose - the cable going to the headphone (the rounded one) started to be damaged in both side I was wondering if it was a faulty set but your video confirmed that it was a fake one (the missing Q on Qualcomm wording) thanks

I contacted Marshall customer service and I was able to return the headphones to them and they send me a brand new original pair. I bought mine from amazon but when I contacted amazon customer service the headphones were out of warranty. I tried to contact the seller and his response was that I should enjoy my cheap pair of headphones. I was about to give up until Marshall stepped in and offered me a brand new pair. I just had to send the fake pair to them and even they pay the shipping.

Nice video!! I just picked these up from Goodwill for $30!!! My phone showed SBC and I was bummed after I watched your video. I just connected them to my Fiio DAP for validation and they DO have AptX. The point is you might suggest checking the codec with multiple devices rather than just relying on your phone. Take care!

I got an original pair of these for $150 and within 3 months my left earcup started giving me problems. The coiled cable is faulty. Contacted Marshall and seems like they will be providing a replacement pair but since I stay in a different country I might end up paying more than half the price on the customs for the new one's. Such a big turn off for such an expensive pair of headphones

The real headphones must be really good for someone to create a nearly exact replica of these headphones. It appears that there are fakes of sever different models. They would not make a replica of something where there is no demand. I checked your videos and do not see a review of an authentic version. Did you ever get an official version?

Thanks for the the video, after notifying to the seller that mine was fake, he replied : "My product is genuine, you can rest assured of this! There should be a malfunction. I'm sorry! Let me give you a refund!" without asking any questions or asking me to send it back. They are probably gaining so much money that they don't care about refunding a few when asked

I got today a pair that so far I can already tell 1) don't even have the golden metal winding on the 3.5mm jack wire 2) the L-R indicator plates are black and not gold. Are these sufficient reasons to conclude the item is fake?

This guy is helping the community, but from a guy with curly hair and a video about fakes..... That hair is fake. He is using two curlers at night and getting everything in radius on his left side or he's been wearing too many fake headphones to throw in him off I'm not sure. But 💯 sure that curl is fake.

Seller asked me to prove that they are fake, I just gave them some links (including your video :)), we will see what they say. When it comes to marshall, They were not helpfull at all. I sent them many detailed photos and kindly asked for help, but they just replied that they cant help me via mail. I asked if not via mail than how? They replied that they wont help me. So, kind replies but completely zero help. I am really disappointed about marshall customer service. I'm user of 3 different pairs headphones from marshall and other music stuff. It was first time I need their help and didint get any. Hope at least I will succes with returning these fake monitors to seller...

Are the fakes that people have experienced mainly amazon, I have noticed on ebay, a ton of marshall headphones from China at a small mark down, not sure if these are actually made in China.

This was a Really Helpful video.... but sadly my 30min old marshal monitor headphones turned out to be FAKE. I just turned 11yrs old and I was after my dad to buy the Marshall monitor headphones finally he bought them 1week before my birthday so they would arrive here near my birthday. It did and after this vid, I saw literally all of the mistakes in my 1 headphone: - A poor quality pic in front - Instead, Qualcomm is said ualcomm - The Brass(not sure gold or whatever are as the Left and Right) were palish yellow) - Lastly, the spring is no tight After that, I was so sad since I wanted these and was so excited but turned out to be fake. Tomorrow I will see about the Bluetooth aptX trick to figure out if they are fake since Right now they are charging. I Got them like for 115$ I think. Before I knew these were fake I checked for if the left gives more sound or right on 1 youtube video but it turned out to be opposite to the real signs like when it said left from the Right volume came, I think this is another way not sure if these are another way to spot them... Anyway :(

Very very usage vdo , I just see the fake one form 2nd hand seller but I know when aspect and sound testing, it all the same as this vdo.

Hi I just bought mine as well and ended up here because of troubles with pairing with my LG G6. After they manged to pair with my phone I checked out the aptx just in case and it said ACC. But clicking on it I could change it to aptx, aptx HD and lots of other choices. Don't feel that any other "fake-point" matched with mine, they look real. Are they real or fake?😅

Hi there...I´ve bought a fake pair too on E-bay... the QR code and other descriptions are exactly the same as mine (1702A002533)...QR code... Bar code, bar code number, the cable .....I´ve compared it with one from a store and ...... yes you can see the differences even with the high quality fakes are made off...Bluetooth stopped pairing so the seller will send me a new ones....I will send a mail to Marshall support and wait.....thank you for your sharing

Nevertheless, as you said you got a new original pair from Marshall, I wanted to ask how good is your bluetooth connection? (My one sucks to be honest). Also, can you hear a slight constant static noise (is that normal?) while listening to music or watching eg. youtube? (especially when I press the pause button I can hear a slight murmuring). I will be really glad if you could provide me your feedback.

When pairing, acc has higher priority than apt and aptX.
